Rollie Polies, aka Pillbugs are arthropods, and indeed are the only crustacea that lives on land. Sow bugs look just like them, and are closely related, but are much faster and cannot roll into a ball.

They live on rotting vegetation, and are totally harmless. (unless you put them in your nose, which could result in a short doctor's office visit)

I'm not scared of flies, but when they unexpectly fly around me, I can get jumpy thinking it was something else.

I know millipedes secrete cyanide but I'm not sure about rollie pollies.

You know, I always thought rollie pollies were cute, when I was a kid. I wonder what it is about them that makes them so likable.

I felt the same way. Part of their appeal was that they rolled up but I suspect a lot of it was that I could catch them.

I really hate horseflies...those can be those most infuriating things ever. I've been on some hikes where they will follow you for hundreds and hundreds of yards, never giving up, circling your legs. And that bite does hurt.

As for rollie pollies, i bet they do look weird under a microscope. Might look a little prehistoric eh?
