Thread: 7 Deli opening soon downtown

Default 7 Deli opening soon downtown

I've been meaning to post this for a couple weeks now. At 6th and Hudson where the old "Red Brick Restaurant" used to be, it is now going to be 7 Deli. I will post a pic soon. Interesting that Downtown has so many deli's/sandwich shops opening up recently and Jimmy Johns fixing to open up any day as well.

That seems to be a fairly ill-fated location. Allen's did good, but was probably condemned or something. Other than that, who actually goes to this place?

Is this going to be a place owned by the same folks who do Cafe 7 on North May - ?

Hayden Allen inherited Allen's from his mom and did a thirving business. The Smith brothers made Hayden an offer he couldn't refuse for his property and he sold it to them and shut down his restaurant to enjoy semi-retirement (in all likelihood he's still involved in the bar business in another part of town, but that's another story).
Allen's was there for decades. One business followed - Red Brick - and yes, it failed. Not sure that makes this an ill-fated location.

I seriously doubt this is the same group.

Yeah, I'm familiar with that spot and it does seem to be in a good location. Love the building. Should be a hit. I'll definitely give it a shot when it opens.

Lots of sandwich shops opening downtown in the last year or so:

MidTown Deli, Subway, Prarie Thunder, 7 Deli, Hobby's Hoagies, and then you have the old ones nearby, more Subways, Quizno's, Markie's Deli, City Bites and several others.
