Thread: The New Mustang Sonic

    Default The New Mustang Sonic

Anyone else think they should have left well enough alone? This format is simply dumb. Cars in the stalls can't get out due to the backed up line for the drive through (I was the 8th car in the drive through line at 2:50 PM today) and although the city of Mustang is at least 1/3 bigger than it was when the old sonic was first expanded, this new Sonic is about 1/3 smaller than the old one. What - were - they - thinking ? ? ?

I would guess the cost of building materials. Just a few short years ago concrete was $70 a yard, now it's approaching $130 a yard. Glad I built when I did. I couldn't afford it now.

By the title of this thread, I thought Ford was releasing a new version of their Mustang.

Whenever the original Sonic was built in the 1980's, I'd guess land was going for $750/ac.

Fast forward to 2008/2009, that piece of commercial frontage off HWY 152 prolly cost as much as the whole original restaturant cost to build.

Except that assuming the new Sonic is owned by the owner of the old Sonic, it would then seem that they'll get more for the old, larger lot than they paid for the new, smaller one. (??)

They did not own the old lot and had lost the lease was the whole reason for the move has been my understanding. Maybe I am wrong and someone can correct me but I am almost sure that is why they moved.

I guess we need another Sonic then. Durant w/a population 1,000 less than Mustang has 3 Sonics. Of course if not a Sonic I wouldn't mind a Burger King like we had before or an A&W, etc.

Mustang traffic on 152 West bound today at 3:40 pm. There were 4 cars stopped in the outside lane of Hwy 152 waiting to turn in to the Sonic. This is going to be heard about at corporate.

Had a nice 5 minute chat with a Sonic rep right after I posted yesterday and made them aware of the problem this new Sonic is creating. I wonder what answers you'd get if you asked the drivers who found their lane blocked yesterday if it would be better to have no Sonic than to have this traffic hazard?

Has that Sonic traffic problem been cleared up?

They've not changed anything so it's a problem waiting to happen whenever enough customers are trying to get in.

Thread reminds me. I've not popped into any Sonic in a few weeks, been on a real TB kick when it comes to fast food.

Saw a tellymercial the other morn after Sonic revamping its burger. If you've been in lately, how different are the burgers, if at all?
