Expansion of Western from SW134th to Robinson in Norman

Does anyone know when they are going to start the expansion of Western from SW 134th to 60th/Robinson in Norman to 4 lanes?

I heard they were supposed to start either in March or May, but that obviously hasn't happened...

Just a guess on my part, but trashing that route late summer and fall while the same stretch of miles on I-35 is under construction wouldn't seem very practical.

I agree... I've noticed that Western has picked up a lot more traffic coming from the south since they've started on I-35

I don't think it's even been designed yet...

From what I've read recently, it's supposed to be widened from 134th to Indian Hills Road only. It would be totally awesome if they did indeed widen it all the way to 60th Ave in Norman. They might as well go ahead and complete the entire length now since traffic is increasing on it anyway.

Heard from our neighborhood HOA meeting the other night that Fall '09 the city will begin moving the utilities to allow for the widening of Western from SW 134th to Indian Hills. Actual construction should begin in the Spring/Summer 2010. In addition there will be stop lights at 149th, Emmaus Baptist Church, 164th, and Indian Hills.
