Thread: Restaurants that have closed...

  1. Default Restaurants that have closed...

    Steak and Ale
    Bennigans
    Carrabba's
    Cheeseburger in Paradise
    Denny's at 63rd and N May
Charcoal Oven on the NW Expressway past MacArthur

I'm sure there are more. Can you add to the list?

  2. Default Re: Restaurants that have closed...

    Crawdaddy's
Shorty Small's in Edmond (long time ago, though)
Anything at that one building in Edmond next to the Outback--nothing sticks there.
    Still corrupting young minds

To give you another opportunity to ply your subtle wit and humility?

...or just to have a localized list of restaurants no longer open for business - who knows?

  11. Default Re: Restaurants that have closed...

    Montery Jacks
    Molly Murphy's

Are there any Luby's Cafeteria's anymore?

Captain D's I believe still has a location in Bethany on NW 23rd near Rockwell and pretty sure Monterey Jack's is still open over on NW 23rd near Ann Arbor (it was a year ago last time I was there).

    Monterey Jack's
    (405) 946-6399
    4836 N.W. 23rd
    Oklahoma City, OK 73127

Faith, went to Luby's website and looks like they still have a location on NW 94th and May:

    http://www.lubys.com/City.asp?City=Oklahoma%20City

And some of the other's mentioned, still have metro area locations.

What I miss is Crystal's Pizza and Casa Bonita.

I'm pretty sure both Captain Ds and Monterey Jacks 23rd street locations are gone -- another mexican restaurant tried to make a go at 23rd/Ann Arbor and closed up fast. now yet another is remodeling and about to open.

I'm sad that Bahama Breeze at Lake Hefner is gone.
They had great Tostones (plantain nachos) and Tortilla soup and Key Lime Pie!

Papa's Little Italy on I-35. sigh...

They reopened the Casa Bonita in Tulsa late last year. I took my son to eat there while we were in Tulsa for a concert. It is NOTHING like I remembered it being. The food is marginal and the atmosphere just wasn't the same.

Captain D's has been closed for several months. That's a shame, Prunette
    and I liked it.

Has the Hungry Peddler been mentioned? That was a great restaurant!

Here are a few others I remember...
    Val Gene's
    The Patio
    Pullam's BBQ
    Chandelle Club
    Eagles Nest
    Zuider Zee
    Shipman's
    McHenry's
    Sweiss
    Ollie's Root Beer
    Bonaparte's
    Tony Roma's
    Tony's Italian Specialties
    Herman's Seafood
    Cherry's Diners
    Johnnie's Topperburger
    Delgado's Mexican
    Martin's
    Garland's Smorgasboard

I miss those awesome rolls at Harrigan's.

Of course no thread like this can go without mentioning Crystal's.

Before Bahama Breeze came to town there was a little place in that same part of town called Caribbean Breeze. It was owned by a friendly lady who I believe was originally from Trinidad. It had good food and atmosphere.

    Anyone else remember Pinocchio's Pizza?

    Atomic Burrito?

How about that great Chinese restaurant that was on Memorial where Baker's Street is today, I believe it was called China Court? That place had such wonderful food and atmosphere... I assume that PF Chang's put them out. Such a shame.

There used to be a Korean place on 23rd called Sharon's Gardens. I don't believe it is there anymore. The only Korean places that I know of now are all in Midwest City.

    Ajanta Cuisine of India.

Zuider Zee. I think that is what Der Dutchman eventually became.

Any cafeteria fans out there? Furr's, Piccadilly, Queen Anne, and so many others are gone.

Smorgasbord! I had forgotten entirely about that place and those funny commercials.

Garland's was popular in the 50's and 60's. It was on SW 29th near Indiana.

I miss Lucy's Pizza. I know it had health violations, but I really don't care.
Ans I miss Roberts Cafe that was on NW 23rd and Penn before they tore down that old strip to build a Sonic.

The only true cafeteria in business is Boulevard Cafeteria. Furr's has turned into All You Can Eat.

The Smorgasbord's I remember was The Choice and Duff's.

    dismayed,

Crystals was already mentioned so no worries, Furr's still has 3 metro area locations Furr's Family Dining - Locations .

It's pretty sad when I'm in my twenties and can remember most of the places mentioned.
