Holly Hunter and Laura San Giacomo star in 'Saving Grace,' a TNT drama set in Oklahoma City. The third season begins March 2 at 9 p.m. Photo/Turner Network Television

The Oklahoma City native executive producer of the TNT drama, Saving Grace, made a publicity visit to her hometown today to kick off the drama’s third season.

Based in Oklahoma City, the Nancy Miller-created drama will return to TNT March 2 at 9 p.m. Miller’s series debuted in 2007 as the summer’s most-watched cable series with plenty of cultural references to Oklahoma and many scenes filmed on location in Oklahoma City.

Miller praised the state film commission as well as city leaders for their cooperation and support of the series which stars Holly Hunter as Det. Grace Hanadarko.

Although Miller would love to be able to film more of the series in Oklahoma City, budget constraints have prevented the series from being able to capture more Sooner State settings. For the cast and crew to travel to Oklahoma to film would require a steep investment from local and state officials along with businesses.

"There was interest (from Oklahoma City civic and business leaders) but I understand that I was asking them to give something for basically nothing in return. And the (late 2007-early 2008) writer’s strike killed the momentum,” Miller said. “But what better way to show how great Oklahoma City is?”

Despite not being able to film exclusively in Oklahoma City, there will be Johnnie’s cups littering the Oklahoma City Police Department’s fictional set as in the past two seasons, along with a new addition: Earl’s Rib Palace. Miller and series star, Leon Rippy, ate lunch at both establishments during their short Oklahoma City visit.

"They (each) sent us boxes of cups and stuff to use,” Miller said. “So you will see them.”

I sort of lost touch after the first season. It just wasn't on a good time for me.
