I am really disgusted. I had a feeling that this crap would happen. As soon as I thought "wow...now that we have a team we need a name". The name is so stupid! The logo is lame. Come on. THUNDER? Are you serious?

So... I was there. The colors are red-orange, Oklahoma flag blue, and yellow. And to be honest, once you see everything in person in the store it looks great.

I was listening to the presser on the radio and I liked the way Clay described the colors, not too red and not too orange against the state flag color.

    Ditto. Logo is seriously lacking.

Really....I'm embaressed. I'm in the army and stationed in New York and when I told some of my friends the possible names and that Thunder was leaked to possibly be it they laughed. Bison and Barons were my picks. I don't even like to think we should stereotype ourselves by ossosiating us with cowboys and stuff but I could've been pleased with Marshalls even. But Thunder? OMG.

I agree. It does look better on the merch than as a stand-alone. Nonetheless, in and of itself it just lacks "punch."

I thought it looked best presented on the black or dark blue shirt color. Definitely NOT the white.

I agree that font on thunder is so generic it is horrible!

The only thing about thunder thats cool is the ac/dc song.

If you ever find yourself asking how can I ruin a first impression, just call Clay.

For everyone that thinks the name sux, the logo sux, everything sux, well you just don't have to follow the team or attend any games. I bet you will be in the minority.

You can love the team and hate the logo at the same time.

I know your pop thirty years.
    He understands.

    He's a nice guy,
    and he's tough.

    I'm nice, and I'm tough.

    I'll give you an idea
    what I mean.

My two boys... I put one
    through college...

    and the other
    I put through a wall.

    Your papa loves you.

    Reach.

Nobody has said they won't be in their seats come opening night and up on their feet cheering, but in my opinion, Clay has too many "yes" men, and not enough people being completely honest. We don't have to pretend that we like it on here, so why should we? If you don't like the logo, you have a right to voice your distaste. That doesn't mean anyone is turning away from the team; that is merely being brutally honest.

I think the fact that just about everyone here, and on the NewsOK boards, has expressed a very like opinion about the logo, pretty much sums up the fact that it was not in the least what was expected.

As someone on those other boards said, they were thUNDERwhelmed.

Of course, that doesn't keep people from being excited about the team. It also doesn't keep people from wanting to support the team. It just means they didn't like what was presented them after so much anticipation.

By the looks of the merchandise store this afternoon, I'm sure they'll fare very well, regardless of what people think of the logo.

There is more to come guys. That's not all of it. Trust me, my shirt is cool. Once you see the full logo with some game themes and the mascot...you will feel better. The colors are good.

    No sir, incorrect sir.....

I was too busy pushing a team name that would've actually FORCED them to pick a logo with some sort of animate object (other than a freakin' basketball)

  23. Default Re: Oklahoma City Thunder!!!

    I can't stand basketball.

But I'm still pretty excited about this...I bet I buy a sweatshirt or two and attend a few games a year. Just because I think it's cool as hell we got a pro sports team...

...That I'm paying for anyway...Might as well enjoy 'em.

Can we stop with all the negativity on this thread? Seriously...YES...everyone has a right to their opinion...but think of the other NBA team names around the country. It could be said that a lot of them are much more generic than Thunder. Be happy we have a team!!!
