Best dance place for the 30's crowd?
Went to CitiWalk last night. It has changed alot since I'd been there about 6 months or more ago. They used to have dancers there, and they played really good music. There was also a good mixture of ages there.
After going last night, it was alot younger crowd, no more dancers, and they played like top 40 dance songs. I was actually kind of bored there last night!
I've never visited SkyBar, so I may have to give it a shot next time I get a chance to go out.

In fact, it doesn't even have to be a dance place, how about a cool place to hang out? LOL.

Are you sitting down?
I don't know how to break this to you but this is Oklahoma City. If you've never been anywhere, it could work to your advantage. Unfortunately, despite all the amazing changes in the city, the nightlife here remains extremely sub-par.
I honestly can't figure it out. The clubs in SAIGON and ULAN BATOR kick the crap out of OKC. We're talkin third-world countries offers more than our hometown. Truly sad.
If you wanna truly have a 'rewarding' weekend experience, get yourself some hairgel, an Affliction shirt and baggy jeans and head to North Western. Yeah, that's it. Good times on the reservation await.
Ugh!
Anyway, for 30-somethings? Have you tried Baker Street?

If OKC would step up and ban 18 to enter 21 to drink clubs you would see an overnight change in the night clubs. Biloxi did it back in the 90's and the night clubs changed for the better.

Re: Best dance place for the 30's crowd?
huh? there's barely any 18 and up clubs.
and btw, IMHO, the best night for dancing is wednesdays at the electro lounge. it attracts an eclectic mix of 20 and 30+ year olds interested in the latest, most cutting edge, most up to date dance trax and not have all the alt bro's bumping into or hitting on you. i can't think of anything in the state that rivals it. quite a lot of bands that come through town stop in and party or dj after their show. not only rockstars, but pro skaters, party documenters / bloggers from LA, many local club owners and even an actor from that 70's show have stopped in. when the shiny toy guns are not touring or out of town, they hang out on wednesdays. robotic wednesdays has also collaborated with the scion car company on parties there as well.
however, it sometimes gets too packed to dance in after midnight.

For someone who doesn't enjoy rap music, bricktown is a waste of time at night.

If you like 70's/early 80's, there is always Groovy's. It was packed the one time I've been, mostly people older than me (late 20's).

I am hoping that Bhudda Tao place is good. There is nothing up on the north side except Baker. I actually wasn't too impressed with Rok Bar northside last night.

My Ex used to dance at citywalk, and let me tell you that place attracts all kinds. Skyybar has a little bit older crowd and I always had a lot more fun there.

Some of the ads aren't safe for work, and it's kind of related. But you might laugh your arse off...

Re: Best dance place for the 30's crowd?
Baker Street will play live music, so it really depends on the band, it's usually a cover band. Thursday nights are always interesting there, but you usually see a line out the door after 10P on Fri/Sat. Good mix of people.
PLUS! Free Parking and NO COVER!
Western has definitely seen a resurgence! Sipango, VZDs, NOVA (if you want to pay $9 for a cocktail), Flips, etc.
Which reminds me, I had heard a few years ago that an investor group was considering converting one of the old theaters on the NW side into a multi-club similar to City Walk. Main Bar being the Snack bar, then 4 to 8 clubs (depending on the facility) in each of the theaters. I guess it just never got off the ground.
