    The Green Address
The NBA’s bid to relocate here was a smart play: Okies have 78 miles of city trails, a Farmers Public Market, and 3,000 annual hours of sunshine. And the Army Corps of Engineers’ recent overhaul has made the Oklahoma River a mecca for elite water sports.

I think there is a thread on this somewhere.

There was mention of it here: http://www.okctalk.com/okc-metro-are...nal+geographic but it is buried.

I think it deserves it's own thread.

I almost feel greedy - "okies have 78 miles of city trails" - makes it seem like we have quite a bit! I still want more!

Kinda balances out that "Worst Place Ever" story that got published in Men's Health or wherever that was...

Considering the fact that almost everyone knew that article was crap...I'd say there was nothing to balance out in the first place. And even if there was, it was balanced out a loong time ago.

But this is great news! And knowing that the city has plans to double, almost triple our trails, we are doing great in that category. :]

Tulsa beat us to the punch on this one. They were listed in the Sept. 2007 issue, 50 top adventure towns.

Tulsa is closer to lakes and the Ozarks and they have a bigger and more widely used citywide trail system, for now. Of course OKC is just a few hours away from the Ouachitas and about an hour away from the Wichitas and Arbuckles.
