Thread: Jets fly aliens home

Ok, airline guys ... what's up with this?

JPATS operates its flights out of Oklahoma City, Okla., with hubs in Alexandria, La.; Mesa, Ariz.; Anchorage, Alaska; York, Pa.; and the Virgin Islands, officials said. It's planes, however, travel to airports throughout the country.

The inmates or immigrants get on and off planes away from an airport's public terminals for greater security, Zinnert said.

Deportees wear civilian clothes and get to bring one checked bag home, weighing no more than 44 pounds, Gonzalez said.

They are restrained while on the flight, she said, and escorted by security personnel "for their safety, the safety of other detainees, law enforcement officers, and aircrews."

The government provides the deportees with food while on board, Zinnert said.

"It's not like a full meal," she said. "It might be a sandwich, cheese and crackers."

They also get water and fruit, though nothing messy or fruit that requires a knife or fork to peel, she said.

Each flight also comes with a nurse, to watch over inmates or immigrants with medical conditions. On at least one occasion, she said, a plane has had to land quickly because of a heart attack.
... but they do get food & a nurse!

Perhaps these are flights originating at the Federal Prison Transfer Center near the FAA?

  3. Default Re: Jets fly aliens home

Umm...depends. When I was back in Ohio, there is an old USAir MD-80 that flies for the Immigration people. They'll make a couple stops around the country picking up illegals and then fly them to an entry point in Mexico. The flights are typically direct from whatever cities they are stopping in and don't bother going through the FTC at Will Rogers.

I don't really care as long as they are taking them south of the border. In fact, I would prefer that they return them to the southern tip of Mexico. Why should they be dropped off at the nearest entry point to the US?

They should have to swim home.

Ugh...suggest to lock this thread before it gets way off topic thanks to our resident trolls.

They need to be arrested here for illegally crossing our borders, right now they just walk our streets with no fear from anything. shutting off the jobs to them would be a major step. If house bill 1804 would have gone through on the second part it would have helped immensly, but we can thank our worthless chamber of commerce for stoping that to help out there big business assoc.

Here is the part that should scare the flying public
Not all deported illegal immigrants, however, return home aboard the JPATS airline.

Gonzalez said about 23,000 were placed aboard commercial flights in the last fiscal year

"Deportees are sent on commercial flights when JPATS flights are not available or when the deportee does not meet JPATS criteria to fly on JPATS aircraft," she said.

Federal escorts are sometimes assigned, she said, based on the deportee's physical, criminal and psychological background
So one your next trip to Mexico City, or other points South, the person next to you might be a violent illegal immigrant on his way home.

This country is headed downhill. Not because of "illegal immigrants" but because of this sort of xenophobic discourse.

Suddenly illegal immigrants become "violent" illegal immigrants. This is the illogiocal thinking that pervades the entire immigrant debate.

Yes, apparently, they are all male, Mexican, adult and dangerous. My God, man.

Slow your role guys. You are making several large leaps in your thought process. In 2 posts autoMATTic, you went from saying I am the problem to implying that I think all male Mexican adults are dangerous. Not quite sure how you go all of that out of my comment.

You have to read the article. Based on the article are you now trying to claim that it is impossible that someone on a flight to Mexico has zero chance of being a violent criminal being sent home via the deportation process by the federal government?

23,000 illegals were flown back to Mexico on commercial flights in 2007 and some of those were not escorted by federal agents for a variety of reasons. How do you think the 23,000 were caught in the first place. Not every illegal is caught working at a meat packing plant. Some of them really are violent criminals. Try watching the news once in a while.

Ha ha! Funny me! When I started this thread, I was humorously thinking that it represented an "Okc hub" in airline transportation! I hadn't intended for it to become "political," just anecdotally interesting. Go figure!

Duly acknowledged. Closet is almost shut by hefty steel bolts impregnable with ordinary earthling firepower. But, before I close and bolt my door, I have to shout, "Let the carnage begin!" [door impregnably shut] [kaboom - signifying loudly shut door]

That said, any hub is better than none!

Well, it's not like they were going to walk back across the border.
