I don't know about the OKC Fuel, especially with the raising fuel prices. It has an instant negative conotation. That would apply more so for fans outside of OK but the NBA will be thinking about marketing on a domestic and international scale. I don't think they will approve Fuel for the team name.

The best one I have heard recently is Oklahoma City Vortex which is a different play on Tornadoes.

Yeah, I don't like Barons much either. The black and gold needs to go too. It's difficult to imagine all the black that would be involved in a playoff series between OKC and San Antonio.

I agree with you on both points. Vortex is a different take on tornadoes which do identify the region, but veer enough to avoid the life-changing consequences people may think of when they hear OKC Tornadoes. I'm in favor of Vortex or Tornadoes with a slight lean towards the Oklahoma City Vortex.

You would think this wouldn't be so hard... that there is a name of something that instantly identifies us.. unites us.. OU Sooners are powerful because they have made themselves so. And it describes where we began. OSU Cowboys. Oklahoma City Blazers.. Given the recent news reports (Owner: Goal to move Sonics to OKC), I think it's appropriate to discuss the team name now. The Oklahoma City SuperSonics just won't work. My vote is for the Oklahoma City Tornadoes. What do you think? Do you have a suggestion?

To be honest, I'm noticing alot of hostility around the country over this deal.

Even back when Oklahoma City was trying to 'steal' the Hornets from New Orleans...and now we've pretty much weazeled our way into getting the Sonics.

A majority of America expects and hopes that we fail.

There has already been mention of the team leaving the lucrative Northwest for the iffy Southwest. It'll be interesting to see if "they" are right or not. BTW-I guess I had forgotten about the Storm being the Seattle WNBA team, so scratch that one! How about the Cowchips?

Outsiders will be saying that about us forever; that won't change.

What will change is that their remarks about us will go from "insulting" (because they're supposedly better than us) to "hating" (because they wanna get like us) soon enough.

Success is always the best revenge, and I am sooooo proud to be here in my city right now.
That's exactly why I'm at work right now, and still can't tear myself away from savoring this moment.
