“The Eddy” Trolley System is FREE All Summer

EDMOND- “The Eddy”, Edmond’s local trolley system, is offering FREE rides from June 20, 2007 until August 31, 2007. Edmond residents and visitors can hop aboard the green trolleybus replicas for a new way to travel to work, school, restaurants, shopping centers and more. The Maroon Line, Gold Line, Green Line and Broncho Bus serve the area between Santa Fe and just east of Bryant from 15th Street to Danforth.

In partnership with the City of Edmond, METRO Transit also provides transit service between Edmond and Oklahoma City via Route 37, the “Edmond Express”. Passengers can enjoy direct access to the Capitol, OU Medical Complex and the Downtown Oklahoma City area. The Eddy routes connect with the “Edmond Express” at Ayers and University. One-way fare for the “Edmond Express” is $2.25. A 30-day unlimited ride pass may also be purchased for $50.

Edmond residents outside of the service area are encouraged to park their cars at a nearby ‘park and ride’ location or ride their bikes or walk to bus stops and The Eddy trolley stops. Personal trip planning is available by calling 235-RIDE (7433).

A grocery-shopping shuttle is also available for older adults living in the Edmond service area. This service provides transportation to and from a designated local grocery store once a week for persons age 60 and older.

To make travels through the city even more convenient, a total of ten green glassed-in shelters are located along Edmond routes. Passengers are sheltered from Oklahoma weather as they wait for their bus or trolley to arrive.
