Valir Health is set to perform a major renovation and expansion of its health care facility at NW 6th and Lee in Midtown.
The company bought the block bounded by NW 6th and 7th and Shartel and Lee in 2004, including a four story 81-bed facility. Rapid growth has led to several improvements.
Founded in 2000, Valir offers long-term care, such as rehabilitation after surgery or illness as well as hospice.
Additions will be made to the north and south sides of the main building, with significant upgrades to the entire facade. The existing green metal mansard roof will be removed in favor of a more updated look.
The $3 million project is set to be reviewed by the Downtown Design Review Committee on November 19th and is yet another big investment in the west Midtown / SoSA area. Design is by Rees Associates.
Just last week plans were submitted for a complete reworking of Red Andrews Park immediately north of Valir.
