Re: 2019 Oklahoma City Aviation Thread

I don't think AA/Eagle have ever had 5 flights daily to ORD. AA did have mainline service though, back in the late '90s-early 2000s with F-100s and MD 80s.

Spirit and Frontier are the types of airlines you're referring to (no-frills ULCCs). Frontier does operate at OKC but to a limited number of destinations. Little chance of Spirit starting ops here...

Yeah that's likely for the OU football team and staff. Headed to Miami for the Orange Bowl against Alabama. OU frequently charters United for its flights these days. Go Sooners!

Looks like UPS has been mixing it up at OKC lately with 763ERFs, in addition to the usual 300-600Fs.

Via's operation has appeared like a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants type deal to me, especially after reading all of the bad reviews and technical problems.

I've seen the streetcars in action a couple of times now, they look real nice. This past Sunday, I was on my way to a meetup just west of downtown and while waiting to turn left on to Sheridan from...

I'll never understand the driving down to/back up from DFW part, even for international service. It's a breeze to fly out of WRA and connect to an international flight. Connecting at DFW itself has...

I'm guessing AA's first in line to get at least one of the four new gates when the first phase of the east concourse opens.

What's with Allegiant? That's a huge increase (relatively speaking for its operations). United's/United Express' numbers are quite impressive as well.

The Dash 8s are likely ex-Piedmont Airways planes, Piedmont's now getting CRJs. Suffice it to say PWA is not getting an American Eagle maintenance facility.

What seat did you sit in? If you sit in the last 5 rows towards the rear, it is fairly loud. The closer you are to the engines, the louder it gets. Of all my rides in the MD-80s, the only time it was...

I've taken several photos from the observation tower and from inside the old terminal's Concourse C if you'd like to see them. Circa late '90s early 2000s.

Nice! Would be great to see more photos from that era. I think that's the same gate at which the Sun Country DC 10 would park.

  22. Re: Flying high: Stillwater celebrates two years of commercial air service

Interesting article, but I'm not sure where the author got the idea that American Eagle is "chartering" flights between SWO and DFW. These are not charter flghts, they're regularly scheduled flights.
  23. Re: Flying high: Stillwater celebrates two years of commercial air service

Pretty neat to see the service grow and sustain itself. Good for Stillwater and the state. Hopefully SWO can get a new destination in the next year or two.

The gate clogging issue is most likely only for the busier summer season when airlines add capacity. In the winter months there are less flights because of decreased demand so not so much of an issue...
