    Re: New Downtown Arena

Saying this "isn't a tax increase" is like saying the purchase of a new car doesn't cost more as long as the payment stays the same. Completely ignore extending the payments by 6 years

    Re: New Downtown Arena

Understand OKC is not gonna EVER let this "temporary tax" die, it's too much revenue.

They have 5 yrs to find something voters will approve to keep this going. Dec 12 vote is simply the "first...

    Re: New Downtown Arena

$900 million divided by 500K population works out to be roughly $1,800 per person. It's not "just a penny".

Another way to look at it is if you spend $30k per year, that's $300 in sales taxes for...

Re: OG&E Smart Hours Pricing Alerts

Smarthours would probably help you if you like it cool at night. 1/2 price power after 7pm.

Loving the 6 and 11 cent days we have had for the past couple of weeks. Makes up for all those critical days back in July.

Re: OG&E Smart Hours Pricing Alerts

ALL of Smarthours savings are outside the hours of 2-7pm. 2-7pm is when rates are expensive.
Smarthours savings comes from paying 1/2 price the other 143 hours of the week.

I'm surprised you haven't put a different thermostat in since you're not on the smart hours program. Why not a wifi thermostat?
Did you look into the TOU rate program?

OGE stated on their Facebook page that they were going to make it good and only charge 6 cents for Friday.

Any thermostat that could be controlled with an app would be good.
OGE really missed the boat not providing wifi thermostats, this is 2017.

Re: OG&E Smart Hours Pricing Alerts

Exactly. Even with small changes, it's enough to make a difference. Try 2-degree pre cool, and 2 degrees higher 2-7pm. Not much differnce in comfort, but enough to save on the bill.

No gas heat? Or do you just not count it because you aren't running the heat in the summer?
If no gas heat I'd seriously consider going all-electric house and dumping hundreds of dollars in meter...
  13. Re: City Code knower-abouters: Residental Gas Cooktop install question

I'm not a fan of the shuretape, I've seen the adheasive dry out juts like regular duct tape. Mastic is best, but it's messy, metal foil tape is a good choice also. Any tape you use shoudl be UL181...
  14. Re: City Code knower-abouters: Residental Gas Cooktop install question

There shouldn't be a HVAC return in the kitchen to begin with, it's against code.
  15. Re: Residential air conditioning repair company recommendation

I work for a Commercial HVAC company and have talked to techs that work at different places.
Randall's are good people, I would recommend them for residential.

Re: OG&E Smart Hours Pricing Alerts

The energy savings is exactly the same with your thermostat or OGE's if they are programmed the same. I have the OGE Carrier thermostat because I'm just too cheap to buy a wifi model.

Re: OG&E Smart Hours Pricing Alerts

They sure did. OG&E claimed they lost $30 Million over 3 years. I bet a large chunk of that was advertising costs, seemed like they were always running ads in previous years.
