    Re: The Yellow Submarine

Yeah, that's why my Uncle Don did some time in McAlester. I don't remember the Sub ever being raided. The owners were pretty good about making sure all of that stayed outside on the "street".

    The Yellow Submarine

I'm sure this thread will be subverted eventually with posts about the Blue Goose, Black Brick, Beethoven's, the Bowery and other local music venues over the decades, but I'm interested in the...

    Re: h.i.s. jackets

Absolutely! The most common color at Harding HS in 1967-68 and at NEHS in 1968-71 was navy blue, though I do remember seeing the blue and yellow before. I love the price in the fine print, "About...

    h.i.s. jackets

Does anyone else remember these zippered jackets? They were a little heavier than a windbreaker, but not as heavy as a jean jacket. They were part of the high school uniform in the mid/late 60s,...

I have seen Laurie Anderson, Judy Collins and the Anderson-Ponty Band (former Yes vocalist along with Jean-Luc Ponty) all in the last year in Dallas. The venues were The Kessler Theater (best concert...

I think I remember that concert, but I thought it was Meat Loaf and Whitesnake. Bat Out of Hell had just been released that week and we were going to go to that concert, but a sudden snow storm kept...

Re: Occupy OKC in Kerr Park...

Are the Occupy OKC folks still in Kerr Park? If so this says volumes about OKC, in a positive manner. If this had happened in the late '60s - early '70s DA Curtis P.Harris (Harass) would have had...

Re: Study into strong beer, wine sales ended

That would be my guess. Kind of goes hand in hand with the brown bag law, requiring that all alcoholic beverages be in a paper sack or box before leaving the store, thus the nickname "package stores"...

Re: Study into strong beer, wine sales ended

Yeah, I'm aware of that. I drove a truck for Rich Distributing (Miller) in OKC from '76 to '79. What I was referring to is that there are only 6 states that sell "weak" beer (3.2). What OK, CO, KS,...

Re: ESPN is biased and sucks!

No, they'll say what the broadcasters said during the 2000 National Championship game, "Who would've thought Oklahoma had a game like this in them?"

Just everybody west of the Mississippi.
