Felt it strong near downtown. Seemed to last a long time.
And people still blow right through them, often without even slowing down. I experience this almost daily on my morning bike ride. It doesn't seem to matter whether it's daylight yet, or what day of...
We discovered Smitty Park just a couple of weeks ago and were pleased with how nice and peaceful it is. The big, mature trees look so pretty this time of year. I had no idea it was there until we...
County assessor website says the structure was built in 1940. I happen to have a 1961 city directory so I looked it up. If it had originally been a motel (which is what it made me think of also), by...
This is what the building looked like in the 1930s: https://gateway.okhistory.org/ark:/67531/metadc477674/m1/1/?q=fourteenth

Sign installation is going on right now. Sky News 9 chopper has been covering it live. It's pretty cool to watch.
Hmmm, that might be an issue then. :)
Do it! I can highly recommend adopting littermates. We have two wonderful cats who are now well over 12 years old. They were very tiny kittens (littermates) who had been dumped in our yard. Although...

Looking forward to hearing what you find out!
I wondered about the 50 acres and whether that was way more than usual for an OnCue. Care to speculate, Pete?
From the commercial real estate transactions in today's newspaper: "OnCue RE LLC paid Wilshire Development LLC $10,432,185 for 50 acres at Interstate 235 and Wilshire Boulevard."...

Stone Sisters Pizza Bar has permanently closed. Signs notifying patrons of the closure are posted on their windows. Looks like they will be offering some of their pizzas/crusts through select...
According to the county assessor, the east building was built in 1929, the center building in 1905, and the west building in 1947. There might be some interesting stuff behind the more modern facades.
Just noticed a "road closed beginning August 22" sign this morning in that corridor between Western and about Classen. I remember reading that they were going to do extensive road work in the area,...
You're welcome. The Gateway to Oklahoma History is an excellent resource: https://gateway.okhistory.org.
Here are a couple of shots of the exterior, from 1958 and from sometime in the 1960s (undated photo but the cars look like '60s models, I think).

And they're planning to ask voters to pass a big bond issue in November.
This isn't tons of information, but it can provide you with a bit of history. Click on the video link just above the map....
I've learned how to do this so I don't have to wait for the staff to notice it (because there's only one dispenser with decaf and oftentimes it's the one that needs to be emptied): Just behind where...
Back in the early 1960s it was a Thom McAn Family Shoe Center: https://gateway.okhistory.org/ark:/67531/metadc1119652/?q=thom
Just out of curiosity I went to the Midwest Wrecking website. Here's what they say about recycling their debris:
"Midwest Wrecking Co. LLC has a broad experience in working with general...
