    Re: Braum's

Sometimes a perp simply wants to be violent and needs no escalation, just an opportunity. The hidden-camera clips shown on TV seem to indicate this might have been such a situation.

    Re: Taco Bell 033284

Agreed about the quality, but when all one wants is a few calories, it's as good as many alternative sources and if one likes Tex-Mex, better than most.

    Re: Taco Bell 033284

You hit it on the head. Not being aware of the situation, I simply asked for the chalupa box! Perhaps I'm being a bit too strict but marketers should always be aware that Murphy lurks everywhere.

    Re: Taco Bell 033284

It is, though. My complaint is NOT with the quality or presentation -- it is with dishonesty of advertising one thing and delivering another. My intent is to warn any unknowing individuals about that...

    Taco Bell 033284

I'm disappointed and outraged at my experience with this Taco Bell location, at Rockwell and Hefner, yesterday.

I had been seeing, both on TV and on line, ads for their two newest "$5 box"...

Good to see you here, Doug! One of these years I hope to get with you again face to face, but my mobility seems to have gotten up and went away...

Re: General Weather Discussion - August 2019

Definitely a light show last night, and loudenboomers outside right now. This is near NW 122 and Council.

Can't agree with you that there are none left, Pete. Murdoch is doing pretty well last I heard, and if Gatehouse takes over Gannett it will be close to a monopoly on the print side. In book...

Re: OPUBCO / Oklahoman Business Practices

As I've said many times before, here, semi-official policy when I spent four years there was "It's not news until we print it." That's a direct quote from my City Editor to me, when I was arguing in...

They're not putting in enough effort to call it a big time struggle! Your list of stale material they continue to feature omits what I feel is the most blatant -- the story about weather researchers...

Re: OPUBCO / Oklahoman Business Practices

Back in the late 50s, when I was the "rewrite man" for the Oklahoman, the obits were totally free. In fact, writing them was one of the primary duties of my job. Every day when I came to work at 4:30...

Re: The Elston Mystery of November 1963

Yep, that's it -- the little peninsula on the north side of the pond is where I fed the ducks. I've never actually driven out to see "Kids Lake" but was sure it was the old duck pond. Being sure is a...

Re: The Elston Mystery of November 1963

If you go southbound on May, from Britton Road, you'll see a sign at the Wilshire intersection saying "Kids Lake" with an arrow pointing west on Wilshire. That lake IS the old Duck Pond, which was on...

The problem, of course, is that these are guidelines, not legal requirements -- and by a strict reading of the First Amendment, no legal requirements can be set. We must trust to the honor of the...

Actually, my intent in mentioning them was to point out a pattern of corruption. That was only one huge instance of it. Another was the small-time crime figure over in Tulsa, during the 50s, who...

The original Gaylord, Mister G to his associates, didn't permit such goings-on, even if anyone on the staff had been susceptible. This isn't to say that he was squeaky clean; he was just too careful...

Will you be exploring the general history of the oil patch, and its development of a culture that lionizes successful rogues? Not to mention the history of our state, which named a county for the...
  18. Re: Oklahoma City News TV personalities: past & present.

It may not be general knowledge, but much of the original KWTV staff came straight from KTOK -- including the station manager. I believe that the Griffins were involved with both stations at that...

Except that the crash that killed Cathy was not a helicopter; it was a conventional plane, participating in a mock dogfight as promotion for an upcoming air show. Turned out later that the pilot, who...

They had to completely remove the traffic light pole on the NE corner, so a generator for the lights would not have helped anything. And I agree with you about the blocked school zone sign on Council...
