  • Wheeler District planning first apartments

The booming Wheeler District is set to add its first for-rent units.

An existing hangar at the southeast corner of the project is set to be demolished to make way for two apartment structures.

The southern building, 900 Hangar, will be 5 stories and contain 163 apartments which will be a mix of studio, 1-bed and 2-bed units. It will also contain a lobby, clubhouse, outdoor amenity area, fitness center and indoor bicycle storage.

To the north, 901 Hangar will be 3 stories with 36 units, a mix of 1- and 2-bedrooms.

The architecture firm is Gardner Studio of OKC.

Wheeler continues to build single-family homes which have been selling very quickly. There are also live/work units and a small condominium building.

This summer they opened their pool and neighboring sports court. The development also includes Big Friendly Brewery, Taco Nation, Clarity Coffee and will soon add Akai Sushi.

The City is also planning to update a nearby railroad bridge for pedestrian use across the Oklahoma River.
