The regional chain features indoor and outdoor Pickleball courts, as well as a massive 2-story bar and restaurant with a large outdoor area for relaxing and playing games.
The OKC site is the fourth for the company, with very popular locations in Kansas City, Wichita and San Antonio and soon to open in Overland Park, Kansas and Grand Prairie, Texas.
The restaurant and bar space has several overhead doors which will open on nice days, as well as two big bar areas, one upstairs and the largest downstairs. There are large dining areas as well as an expansive deck on the second level.
Outside are dozens of seating areas of all types, including several covered pavilions each with heat, fans and TV's.
In addition to 6 indoor pickleball courts, there are 4 outdoors with 2 being covered. Other games include ping pong, shuffleboard, bocce ball, cornhole and giant Battleship and Connect 4.
There are multiple spaces available for groups and events. The outdoor space is family and dog friendly.
The game of pickleball is rapidly growing in popularity and is like a cross between tennis and ping pong. The court is considerably smaller than tennis and the racquets are short-handled and hard. The ball is hollow plastic that doesn't bounce nearly as high as a tennis ball. The result is a fast-paced game that is easy to learn.
As the name suggests, the menu has a strong focus on chicken of all types, with a large rotisserie for whole, half or quarter birds and several varieties of chicken sandwiches. Burgers, salads, sides and desserts are offered as well as a large assortment of local beers on tap as well as a full bar.
In addition to open pickleball play, there will be tournaments as well along with other activities such as yoga and spin classes.
Chicken N Pickle is at 8400 N. Oklahoma just east of Broadway Extension between Wilshire and Britton near Flix Brewhouse. Courts open at 8 AM every day and can be booked in advance; bar and restaurant opens every day at 11 AM; closing is 10 PM Monday thru Thursday and Sunday, 11 PM Friday and Saturday.
