  • Plans move forward to renovate old Chrysler dealership

As we were first to report in August, local developers purchased the historic Chrysler Plymouth building in Midtown.

Now the new owners have presented plans to the Downtown Design Review Committee that show the intention to renovate and restore the structure.

The building at 301 NW 13th was constructed in 1946 as the Walter E Allen Chrysler Showroom and Service Shop and recently the western portion was split and renovated into the home of Monterey Energy.

The 30,000 square foot eastern section was more recently home to Able Rents.

The design my Miles Associates calls for removing the non-origianl concrete aggregate panels and returning to a taller storefront with composite metal above as a reference to the original vitrolite glass.

The blue color is a reference to the standard colors used by Chrysler/Plymouth in the 1940s.

The redevelopment is by the Pivot Project which has renovated other historic buildings in the city's core, such as the Tower Theater and the Sunshine Laundry building.

New tenants are now being sought with the ability to subdivide the space for multiple companies.

The plans will be presented for design review on December 19th.
