  • Rococo to open in Western Avenue District

Last evening at the Taste of Western event, Rococo owner and chef Bruce Rinehart announced plans to open at 4308 N. Western, last home to The Barrel.

Rococo will be moving its restaurant operation from 2824 N. Pennsylvania into the new spot next year, when the Penn location will be converted to a catering and private events facility.

Rhinehart opened the spot on Penn almost 15 years ago but now sees the opportunity to be part of the thriving dining scene in the Western District. The existing location will soon celebrate its 15th birthday party in mid-October.

The new spot is directly south of a recently-revamped Sushi Neko and the Will Rogers event space.

In 2010, Rococo opened a second location in Northpark Mall at 12252 N. May which is still thriving. Rinehart said they are busy booking events for the upcoming holiday season.

The Western location offers a large 4,738 square feet plus an enclosed patio on the south side of the building, along with its own parking lot. The patio will be adapted into a garden-like setting and the remodeled space will have a large square bar with a seafood display indicative of an enhanced focus on fresh seafood dishes.

The new menu will feature Rococo favorites as well as many new additions.

The new design includes a large central bar, a lounge area with fireplace and a chef's room that will seat 12-14.

Fitzsimmons Architects will handle the design work and the new facility should be open in late February or early March.
