I have been telling myself for sometime now that I will enroll in sailing lessons, but have no idea where to start this process...

Anyone have experiences with sailing at Lake Hefner? Also, can you give me an idea of what to expect price/time wise? Thanks in advance!

Your best option is at the Lake Hefner YMCA Sailing Club. I think summer lessons/pass run you around $100-$150 or so for unlimited use of their crafts for the year. Granted they are small crafts designed for 1-4 people but they are good for beginners. I got my start there. My uncle owns a Catalina 27 footer now so I go to the OKC Boat Club on the East Shore of the Lake although I probably need to go to the Y again and get a refresher.

That's by far your best bet in the metro.

I'm telling you if you live in the metro by far (and really the only option to learn is the Lake Hefner YMCA Sailing club) as I said above. You seem to be interested in Hefner, so I'd check them out. Oklahoma City Boat Club isn't really an option unless you're a member (have to go through a 1 year membership process typically and prove your skills), not to mention the yearly membership dues, etc.

The Y is the place to go for the beginner. Here is their link: Our Facility (http://www.ymcasailing.org/facility.htm)

Yep, go with the Hefner club and classes. Had a Hobbie Cat for many years, loved it!
