one day I'd like to own all of the following:

and, of course, I'd love to have one of these.

it's a 1967 toyota 2000GT, but its unlikely I'll get one.
There were not very many made and it would be very expensive.

The Toyota Previa is a keeper. The one my parents used to have was great. The AC sucked and the sliding door wouldn't always close. But I loved it.

I don't think I would ever own a hybrid, you are pretty much driving an experiment till something better is developed. Soon, you wont be able to give them away. The Honda CR-Z is an intriguing option in that catagory tho.

4 months ago I bought a 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8L Track model. 170mph on the speedo. I've had it close to 150 and have decided it has more horsepower than I have balls. It was only at 3500 rpm in 6th and still accelerating when I backed off.

Buy whatever you can afford in cash, no one wants a car payment for 5 or more years. I guarantee that you wont feel at same urge about that car after you've been paying payments on it for a few years and something new comes along.

I am currently waiting for the auto industry to collapse again so I can trade in the Nissan Armada and Ford 500 for an F150 and Mustang Convertible at ridiculously low prices and 0% interest. Another 6 to 9 months ought to do it.

I'd like a newer Toyota Avalon or one of the Toyota/Honda SUV's.

That's the key Metro! Pay cash, buy no newer than 3 years old and learn to do simple maintenance yourself (oil changes, brakes, belts, etc.). In most cases an expensive car isn't going to last any longer than a reasonable car if both are taken care of and the more reasonable car will cost much less now and going forward.

Mom is considering what SUV to get and she does not want a Ford, because they force people to have their vehicle serviced only at Ford shops. I dunno if this is true, but Ford just need to drop this whole 'different tools' crap.

Not true. I've owned at least 3 Fords in the past. Most recent was a Ford Explorer. You can take a Ford to most any shop or do many of the simple repairs yourself. Its some of your high end cars that require specialized tools. I've considered the Ford Edge or Sport Trac.

Ford is definately the better of the domestics (misnomer?) I paid cash for a 2 yr old Ranger Edge w/15K on it. Saved $6200 off the sticker. Bought it off Ebay and the seller turned out to be working where I used to work we even knew a lot of the same ppl there.
The Wife won't accept used so we got her an 09 RAV4 Sport AWD V6. Went to Joplin MO to get it as they're the only state in the region that sells Japanese made RAV4s. Ours dodged all the recalls and has run flats so no ugly spare on the rear door. We also paid cash for the RAV. We're not rich. We just drive them till 15 yrs or older and plan ahead for replacement.

My local Ford dealer has a 2010 F-150 Platnium that is marked $6,000 off. I might have to pay them another visit.

I've always had either a truck or a SUV. I love features of both, so when I bought my last vehicle it had to be a Chevy Avalanche. It really is the best of both worlds. I get the hauling capacity of a truck, but rides like a SUV, plus I can still haul up to 5 people.

Ford Mustang, I have bought two new mustangs in as many years. (Note: the 2008 model was totaled in a four car pile up like 3 days before I owned it two years, and it was not my fault)

I like the concept behind the Prius - though not so much the styling.

Since I've sworn off buying new cars, I wonder about long-term reliabilty and maintenance (even with Toyota's good reputation in that area). Have you ever had any problems with it? When do the batteries wear out and how much does it cost to replace them? Do you think a used Prius would be a wise investment?

I was in a really bad (rollover) accident in a Prius and walked away with a bruise where my seat belt was. They have a built-in rollbar, but I believe one of the reasons I was in the accident was the bad visibility in the rear. The gas mileage is amazing, they're quiet and ours was very low maintenance. I believe there's an 8 year warranty on the battery, but am unsure how much a new battery costs.

I'm going to get a car soon and am thinking about a new Mini, am dying to see the Scion iQ but am also considering the new Lexus hatchback hybrid that is coming out soon. I would definitely consider a hybrid.

In the past year I've bought a 2009 Tahoe and a 2010 Ford F350, have been very peased with both so far. I haven't put many miles on the Ford, but I've put a little over 25,000 on the Tahoe.

Haven't seen it yet, but elder son is acquiring an 06 Mustang. Not certain of the details beyond he is quite happy about the one he's eyeballing.
His younger brother is considering what he might want to drive once high school ends in a few months as the old Gran Prix is near ready to be put to pasture.

My mom drives a Chrysler Pacifica and yeah the engine sucks but they are built like rocks. Jeep is the oldest off-road brand in the world. Yeah, it's a Chrysler, but it's not built like one.

G4TV did a special segment on that car recently. I love how the cockpit looks like a big video game. It's about time someone did some modern innovation with the interior of a car.

How long will the $1.50/day take to repay the cost of a $40,000 compact car?

I've had my 2011 Camaro 1SS/RS for about 10 months now and cannot wipe the smile off my face. I've actually noticed a lot on the road around town in the last 6 months.

The thing has scary power, 400 hp. Gas mileage around town stinks (rated 16 mpg, but realistically 14-15 mpg), but is very good on the highway (25 mpg on my last trip to the 'rents in Dallas).

I obviously haven't had it that long, but so far I've been very impressed with the quality, especially considering I've had less than stellar results with American cars. Obviously they are not the most practical cars. But then again I have no kids to shuttle back and forth either.

I have a 2009 Pontiac Vibe - it's a great car, and I'd buy a Vibe again in the future if Pontiac weren't shut down.

I don't like Dodge's quality, but I'll admit that the new Dodge Jouneys with the tablet interface are pretty sweet. Since I have a kid on the way, I think I'd go that route, and probably will in the near future, at least for baby mama's transportation.

If you want to spend $23-28K (after the 7,500 tax refund) on a car that has a max range of 62 miles, 66 HP, and has a standard recharge time of 22 hours (extra for faster charger) then you might as well give yourself the finger.

I'd like to have one of those little two-seaters that look a lot like enclosed golf carts.
I'd get some of that Auto Wraptor stuff with pictures of Big Daddy Roth style exhaust pipes with flames coming out of them.

Since that ain't gonna happen, I'd settle for one of those Mercedes Benz convertibles like Bobby used to drive on "Dallas."

Frankly, I wouldn't mind having a copy of the 1960 VW bug I drove in high school.
Except with European semaphore turn signals that actually worked.
And maybe a better paint job. And a heater. Nah...forget the heater. I had this when I lived in Colorado and never having to have snow tires or chains--and never getting stuck--made up for the heater.

Did I mention never having to mess with anti-freeze?
And being easy to push start?

(And if some jerkoffs jammed you into a parallel parking space, you and a buddy could drag the vehicle out sideways?)

Why must everything fuel efficient be so god-awful ugly? Does zero styling help with the gas mileage?

Unfortunately, yes. Good aerodynamics are essential to fuel economy, but so is light weight, which presumes less length - and the two of them don't play well together. So all your fuel misers have the general contours of an egg on a slant, or they're priced out the wazoo and aren't that miserly. (See: Fisker Karma, which is quite lovely but which weighs over two and a half tons.)

I still love my 2008 retractable hardtop Miata. Got it from an OKC couple. I was their only bidder for it on Ebay 3 years ago for $22,900. Their dream car became my dream car. It's 4 cyl motor means low insurance rates. It gets around 31 mpg on the highway. It's Bose audio system is okay. And it's quality seems just fine and problem free. Everyone who knows Miata knows it's a fun car and I agree, especially with the top down.

No heat was insane at times, but I never missed air conditioning, even in the summer of 1980. Now, in my advancing age, it might be worse than no heat.

Driving in this part of the world without air-conditioning produces fatalities.

Should have laws mandating that before worrying about mileage.
