Yes, 85 years later FNB will once again be primed to take a lot of your money.... just now with no intention of ever giving it back.

Is that really that different from a bank? Lol

Those renderings are also done in VR, and it’s truly amazing to actually be able to “stand” in those spaces.

Do you know if there are any non-VR but still interactive models publically available? (e.g. Google street view-style 360 pictures)

I don't know. Would be cool for sure. Wondering how possible it is to convert 3D designed for VR into that type of viewer.

I feel like the full on demolition of a 15 story building might be the one time it's appropriate to keep pedestrians a safe distance away from a downtown construction project. These guys have kept the sidewalks open with a very un-okc-like protective covering on the other side of the building so it seems that it was their line of thinking as well.

I agree. Just annoying right now with the corner of Broadway and main being closed for pedestrians with p180 work it really makes this block not pedestrian friendly but hopefully the p180 stuff is ending soon

Took these today. A worker told me they were delivering materials to the roof of the east building of FNC (and up and over the office building at Broadway & Park) to 'aid in the interior demolition' as they convert that section to parking.

It seems to me that the building marked "separate ownership" is no longer occupied. Has there been a transaction there? For many years I have believed that ground floor space is crying out for a restaurant, opposite Skirvin. I think the right place would absolute KILL IT there, especially if it had a great bar.

That is correct. What we were told was that the will have one lane in each direction on the east side of the median during this time.

I don’t hate it, but I wish it was a local steakhouse. I just can’t see myself going to a Ruth Chris over Broadway 10, red, the ranch, boulevard, mahogany.

There will be a lot of really excited people so that’s good. Hopefully some of the other spaces are local operations and this doesn’t just get filled up with high end chains.

That's 4 prime steakhouses downtown...

Given that the other 3 are local, I really hope that this one struggles. I would prefer another upscale concept that is not in OKC such as Ocean Prime.

Sucks. Much rather have a different concept (S&W, Morton's, Oceanaire) May be the odd guy out but I have eaten at Ruth Chris' 8-10 times all over the country (including the one in Tulsa) and have never had a good experience. I have literally walked by our servers taking a break on the way to the bar to get my own drink.

They get good reviews in most places. Will be popular with national visitors. Locals will still go to the better local steak houses as they do most places. All in all, it enhances outsiders view of downtown OKC.

I wish there was a "like" feature. This post deserves one. For locals, they may not prefer this place. But people from Jacksonville? They will be more apt to try it before Broadway 10.

Bob's Steak and Chop House is going into the Omni as well.

That's 3 steakhouses within a few blocks on Robinson.

So, we'll have:

Bob's
Ruth's Chris
Mickey Mantle's
Mahogany
Red Prime
Broadway 10

I view this as positive news. I have eaten at Ruth Chris in New Orleans where they got their start in 1965 (see below), along with Atlanta and Dallas location (North Dallas Tollway) and have always had a great experience. To me this is a venerable name recognition steak house that does it right! I also like local options like Red and Mahogany when I am in town. This is a good catch for OKC!

Dang, I forgot about Broadway 10 and didn't even realize another one was going into the Omni.

There's no way that all 6 of these survive. Of course, if there's anywhere 6 steakhouses could survive within a 1 mile radius, it's Oklahoma City.

As other expats have said regarding Rover's wonderful take on Ruth Chris bringing national clout to downtown, I also agree.

Personally, I would rather a McCormick and Schmick or Morton's of Chicago for national clout that offers better than RC and have RC go into NHP but i'm sure it will do well along with the other steakhouses in the steak capital of America.

I guess everybody differs in their tastes of steakhouses. It’s been years but we always had good to great experiences at Ruth’s Chris. Only been to Morton’s once but was not a fan of how much they char the steaks. And went to Bobs not that long ago but wasn’t really blown away; maybe the people we were with hyped it up too much. Capital Grille definitely gets my vote as a good chain. As far as some of our local steakhouses being that much better then RC, I guess I differ in opinion here as well. Won’t name them bc don’t want to ruffle any feathers but there’s at least one named above that I don’t even understand how they have such a good following. 3 trips there for me and 3 ok to bad experiences.

I don't know if all of them could survive right now, but once they are open, we will have a new park, convention center and other added tourist destinations that will add to the traffic. I don't love Ruth's Chris, but having a well known chain like that downtown will be a good addition. I think Mahogany, Mickey Mantle's, Red Prime and Broadway 10 and Vast will all do fine. I am worried about smaller places like The Mantle and how they will pan out. just my two cents.
