The Salvation Army is once again out ringing bells at the holidays. Everyone knows who the Salvation Army is and what a good reputation they have year 'round. But there have to be lots of other, lesser-known charities in our area. For instance, Ally's House, founded by Toby Keith, to help children with cancer and their families meet the medical bills.

What other charities --- specifically those that help children in Oklahoma and Cleveland County --- do you know about, support, have experience with, etc.?

Ally's House , The Children's Center (Bethany), Make a Wish Foundation, Friends of Scouting

Welcome to The Children's Center (http://www.thechildrens-center.org/)

It's in Grady County but Santa's Workshop is an other charity we support.

I've heard Make a Wish Foundation is very popular. Do they have a local chapter that helps children in Oklahoma?

I believe there are two chapters here. Two offices anyway, one in OKC and one in Tulsa.

If you've ever been to the Home and Garden Show at OKC Fairgrounds, you've probably noticed the birdhouses being auctioned off.
Those are for Make-A-Wish.
They also auction celebrity autographed guitars at Country Fever in Pryor.

WELCOME TO COUNTRY FEVER MUSIC FESTIVAL , PRYOR CREEK, OKLAHOMA (http://www.countryfeverfest.com/)

The Cleveland County Youth Council has started a Christmas Project with hopes of supplying teens residing at Cleveland County group homes with greatly needed clothing and hygiene items. We only have 2 weeks left to recieve donations, and so far we only have enough items for 1 group home. There are 3 homes that were promised items. We need black, white or gray tshirts, underwear, gloves, sweatshirts and pants. If anyone is interested in helping please contact Candice Hyde at 405.573.1900.
