I have a co-worker whose husband is a BOB fanatic, the poor guy is almost a Ron Benton groupie. ANyway, she heard a rumour BOB will be shifting to country after Christmas because the new morning crew is not "jelling". IMHO I don't think the metro can support another country station, the three we have seem to have all of the sub-formats covered.:Smiley053

Well things certainly seem to be changing at BOB. All Christmas, all the time for now with their "Santa Bob" promotion. It wouldn't surprise me if there was a change. I think we have enough country stations though.

If Bob goes country, then does that make it Billy Bob radio? Too many country stations as it is. I want elevator music.

Or even, heaven help me, "smooth jazz."

Worse. It's already gone contemporary Christian.

Don't any of you remember that "the bob" was "the bull" before it was"the bob" and when it changed format to the bob, the first day it played "stairway to heaven" all day and night without ever changeing into another song and people was calling the station and police because they thought something must have happedn to the disk jockey? Anyway, it has already been country first with "the bull". I think Ron, Stacey, and Phil just are not a good combination at all.

I don't follow these radio stations, but you might want to read Mark Shannon's website before his pages slide off the end. He keeps a week's worth on his site. He has commented on a lot of this stuff for the past several days, including Lisa.

While that's the case, why aren't there any 24/7 Blues/Jazz stations in OKC? I know both have large fanbases in the city so why is it that we have to get both genres of music out of college stations? Frankly I enjoy them both and rate them miles above this new, aweful pop country and watered down rock.

New music sucks.

Some of the lamest music I know of.

Let's have some more of this crap....

Murder at your every foot step
A childs toy sudden death
Sniper blazes you through your knees
Falling down can you feel the heat
Burn!

Ambushed by the spray of lead
Count the bullet holes in your head
Offspring sent out to cry
Living mandatory suicide
Suicide

Holes burn deep in your chest
Raked by machine gun fire
Screaming soul sent out to die
Living mandatory suicide
Suicide

Lying, dying, screaming in pain
Begging, pleading, bullets drip like rain
Minds explode, pain sheers to your brain
Radical amputation, this is insane

Fly swatter stakes, drive through your chest
Spikes impale you as youre forced off the crest
Soldier of misfortune
Hunting with bated breath

A vile smell, like tasting death
Dead bodies, dying and wounded
Litter the city streets
Shattered glass, bits of clothing and human deceit
Dying terror
Bloods cheap, its everywhere
Mandatory suicide, massacre on the front line

"Mandatory Suicide" by Slayer.

Seriously, I just typed in "suicide lyrics" in Google and got 1,790,000 results.

I just read (old news actually) that Phil, from the "Phil, Drew and Kaci Too" afternoon show on KYIS 98.9 has been assigned as a morning DJ on BOB.

This is from Drew and Kaci Too MySpace site:

blog.myspace.com/phildrewandkaci (http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=38832818&blogID=196077446&MyToken=024f0ed1-82ac-49a8-b4c2-877a3ed132d2)

I've never listened to BOB. Probably never will.

Or even, heaven help me, "smooth jazz."

We need a good smooth Jazz station here. We used to have one, 97.9 awhile back, I love Jazz.

What's the deal with this group? Haven't they only been together a month and a half?
What was the final story with why Phil left the afternoons with Drew & Casey? Was it to "help" Bob get established in the morning, or was Phil looking to move to mornings for family reasons, or were Phil, Drew, & Casey just not getting along anymore???

Questions, so many questions.

For me, I thought Phil and the crew at Bob were doing okay so far... but I don't listen every day either.

I was listening to BOB Christmas over the past few days in the car, and they're advertising the fact that it'll be a Rock format after Dec. 26... (I think I'm attemting to answer a question, but it may be one that no one cares about anymore. :o )

I'll only vote for a jazz station if it plays Miles Davis, John Coltrane and the like. That Kenny G crap they call jazz is an insult to jazz. BTW the G stands for Goofy.
