SECURITY TIPS

As we proceeded into the Holiday Season it is important for us to enhance our security awareness. In order to make everyone more aware of their safety and possibly prevent them from being a crime victim at home or work, please consider some of these tips:

Work Tips

1) At work, be mindful of unauthorized persons in your work area.

2) At work, report any suspicious activity or people to security
immediately.

3) At work, secure and lock all valuables in your office and car. Don't
leave items of value in plain view.

Work and Home Tips

4) Be aware of your surroundings at all times. This includes the people in the area, the amount of lighting and public visibility where you park your vehicle.

5) Do not get out of your car until you have visually scanned the area for
suspicious persons or vehicles. Make sure you look into cars in the area to see if anyone is watching you.

6) If a stranger approaches, move quickly to a highly public area, such as an open business or crowd of people.

7) Avoid walking next to occupied vehicles.

8) Avoid going to the carwash at night. During the day go with a friend.

9) Avoid unnecessary travel at night, especially when alone.

10) Do not provide any information on the phone to anyone you do not know personally, such as favorite activities, number of persons living with you, work or personal information.

11) Make sure your home is secured with dead bolt locks and all windows have locking devices that remain locked during the day and night.

12) Do not open the door to anyone you don't know! No matter what kind of information they share with you. If you don't have a "peep hole" or window in your front door please consider purchasing one.

13) Avoid walking in desolate stairwells alone.

14) Do not be afraid to call the police or security when you hear or see
something suspicious.

Special Tip

"Your Car Keys".... YOUR PERSONAL SECURITY AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

Next time you come home for the night and you put your keys away, think of
this. It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and
required no installation.

Start keeping your car keys next to your bed on the night stand when you go to bed. If you think someone is trying to get into your house, or if you hear a noise outside your house, just press the panic alarm on your car key chain.

Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking the horn until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key chain.

It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes offwhen someone is trying to break in your house, odds are the burglar or rapist won't stick around. After a few seconds, all the neighbors will be looking at their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the
criminal won't want that. Try yours to make sure it works before you rely on it.
