I just saw a lit up AT&T logo on one of the buildings downtown. It's good to see more businesses represented downtown.

I agree, i like it when buildings have company names on them.

Yeah, they did that a few weeks ago. There was an article on it in the Journal Record, the logo looks nice but the exterior of the building it adorns despirately needs an upgrade.

Now all we need is a new tower with a new logo. :)

I can see this building from my living room window and I didn't really notice the AT&T sign because of how freakin' ugly that building is!

It's not the prettiest tower on the skyline, indeed.

Which building is it?

It's a beige tower that looks as though it barely has any windows. I can't imagine that it was ever considered attractive, even in the seventies or whenever it was built.

It's the old Southwestern Bell Building.

Yeah, that's an ugly building.

I'm quite sure that's just cladding on top of a much older facade which is probably much nicer.

It's a wall that impedes a nice view of the skyline from Broadway Extension.

Don't want those telephone company employees gawking around looking out the window. Sunlight? You don't need no stinking sunlight!

The bigger architectural crime might be the collection of aluminum panels and antenas on the other SWB building just past the upper left hand corner of this little gem.

Ugliest building downtown, I'd have to say.

What are you guys talking about! These building are architectural gem that give OKC character and makes the OKC skyline unique. I love those aluminum panels on the building next door. I can’t believe all of the memories I have of that place. These buildings must be saved. I demand that we protest their destruction.

Who said anything about destroying those buildings?

Good idea though. We need more surface parking.

Dallas has a lot of surface parking. We need it too.

The note of sarcasm in this post cracked me up...

Yes, that's so clever.

Kerry has made the same lame post in slightly different form about 15 times now.

Unfortunately, most of the time what's taking their place is even crappier and generic. At least the crap we want to save is our own.

1. You've made this point plenty of times.

2. It has absolutely nothing to do with this thread or most of the ones with the same commentary.

Point taken Malibu - I'll stick to the topic.

I agree that these building are the ugliest downtown except for the backs of the buildings on Park Ave that you can see from I-40. The windowless look is a MaBell specialty. I can only guess they didn't want all of the operators on the nite shift seeing how dark it was outside.

Does anyone have any idea what the aluminum panels are hiding. The building looks cool right up to that point.

I think it is the equipment associated with the dish antena. It is a pretty decent building and would look even better without all that junk on its roof.

Yeah, thats the old SBC building and as I understand it- it is short on windows for very good reason. There is a lot of equipment in there that needs to be kept at a low temperature which of course is easier to do without the windows...its their NOC.

It's the AT&T building of course, formerly SBC.:fighting2
