For all interested (especially out of towners) I drove around downtown and Bricktown today and took pictures. Almost every announced project is under construction now. I took pictures. Colcord and Legacy Summit pics didn't come out well so I didn't upload them but everything else did. Check out my gallery to see the pictures.

Thanks for posting, Metro. It's nice to see some of the progress in areas I don't get around to very often. The picture of downtown from Deep Deuce is an interesting shot. Thanks again!

With all that growth downtown somebody'd better git some Mexicans on the job...

I agree. Mods, I think the above message by Spartan needs to be deleted.

Spartan is just trying to parse the message board rules to figure out where I'll draw the line on antisocial behavior. A members "reputation" per say is largely built on their body of posts over time. Others will eventually figure out whom to take seriously and whom to dismiss.

Do a search for all of Spartans post you will find mostly one-liners with no real contribution to the site other than to boost our post count.

Strange, because he has lengthy posts on his site.

I have never thought of Spartan (Sooner&RiceGrad) as a troublemaker. As for the comment in this thread, I just looked as it as a one-off thing and it didn't trigger any PC thought police kind of stuff.

He has posted here for a long time as Spartan and Sooner&RiceGrad and I am afraid the comments about him just running up the post count with one-liners is not fair. Honestly, I otherwise don't understand the post from Todd unless there are some things I don't know about. He has posted many good and thoughtful posts here at OKCTalk.

Anyway, what about Metro's pix? I really like that downtown shot from Deep Deuce.

I didn't want to address this publicly, guys, but I'll give it a shoot. I may not have as much free time as you all have, and I'm in the middle of running Atlanta's urban development forum, the state-wide forum, and I have a conceptual plan underway with some buddies in Denver and Texas for what will be called DenverVision and TexUrban.

I've had to cut a lot of forums off with all of this. I had to give up Hornets Center, which I did enjoy, and I largely stopped being really active over at TN and the other two or three Tulsa forums.

I'm sorry you all don't find my posts very inciteful. I have changed a little since I was last on here; I'm more of a photographer than a gasbag. If you all want my best stuff you would be better off just watching my user gallery.

:tiphat:

Thanks writerranger.

Sometimes you make posts that seem to be out in left field, and have nothing to do with the topic. Other than that, you're fine.

It will be a real race to see which of the Bricktown/downtown condo projects are the first to be open for business.

There hasn't been anything done at the Fox Lake site for months. They might have moved the dirt piles a few feet.

How do the new windows at Founders look in person?

It will certainly be strange to see that change on tne NW OKC skyline next time I visit.

The new Pearls is on Classen just north of the Belle Isle Shops. It is on the west side of the road as well as some new office buildings. These look like a nice place to have an office as most are stand alone house looking type offices.

Wow, Block 42 is really coming along. And I didn't realize they were already under construction on the Hampton Inn.

your welcome, keep in mind, these photos are about a week old, even more progress has been made on Block 42. they really are on the ball and have sufficient crews. Yeah, I announced I noticed construction started on Hampton Inn last week, they've been moving dirt and working on easements/utilities. I'm surprised the local media still hasn't announced anything, but half the time I notice days before they do anything.

as far as your founders question, now known as 360, it looks pretty sweet. from a distance the windows look more blueish green than anything. but if you're up close, they definitely look an emerald green. I sure hope but doubt they will powerwash the concrete balcony's and other areas. That would sure make a huge difference since the windows look new but the balcony's look old and are stained with mineral build up, etc.

oudirtypop, they are right, the new Pearls is on Classen Blvd, just behind the Belle Isle shopping center. It's in a new office park. There are several threads on this if you want more info.

All, I'll try to take more pics soon!

Well I had a "bike around" today and took a bunch of pics. I posted some in appropriate threads (especially the Hampton Inn Bricktown thread and Tree's butchered in Bricktown thread). I'm also about to create an "unidentified structure in Bricktown thread). These pics here are more miscellaneous so I'm just posting here. I later learned why it is not good to bike several miles when your sick.

Enjoy the pics though!

Was riding the scooter downtown last night and noticed the sky had a cool haze. I snapped this on my phone from Maywood park. I'll try to post more downtown photos soon (I posted a few more in various threads like Banjo Museum and exotic cars in OKC).

Wonder if that haze could possibly be from the fires in California?

According to Mike Morgan, that is the case.

Yes, you are correct about Mike Morgan. It was interesting too when I got off work last night, I looked up at the moon and it was an orange/red color--this was around 8:20 last night--and I thought to myself, 'damn, that's a lot of smoke from California!'.
