Did anyone catch the news that the Grateful Bean is reopening on July 17th? They have been remodeling/painting lately. Not sure what all they have to do, I thought the place was in pretty good shape myself. Anyhow this is great news for Midtown. I didn't know it but Grateful Bean is 1 of only 2 nonprofit restaurants in the country. Additionally, this time the Grateful Bean will be open 6 days a week instead of 5, and will be serving breakfast now. They will still keep their vegetarian only menu though. They will not offer beef or pork.

On another note, Subway across the street in the Plaza Court building is fixing to open up.

looks like Subway is committed to downtown and central Oklahoma City. I hope that spins off on additional higher end retail offerings, as subway tends to draw knowledge thinking and higher income crowds - at least here in Seattle.

Hope the elderly black man greeter and the blind piano player return. They're classics.

I thought he passed away a few months earlier? I know one of their main employees did and they did a big article on it in the Oklahoman.

Oh, sadly in fact, the man did pass away earlier this year.

On a more positive note, I ate there today for lunch. My review is in the Food Court section.

I drove by a few minutes ago. It appears they've added a bicycle rack out front recently. I haven't noticed it before. Even had several bikes parked in it. Good to see more urban living!

They have meat, they have chicken items and such. It's been reopened for well over a year now, almost a year and a half, in fact its doing very well.
