Does anyone have any pics of the current progress of the Indian Cultural Center? I think it would be kind of cool to see how much this project comes along until the completion. After all this is a huge project.

I drove by the other day. Didn't seem like a whole lot of progress. Just some dirt moved.

But you have to admit, it is a lot of dirt that has been moved. ;)

Trith is, this thing is on a long timeline, with a 2009 opening, I think. So we may not see any tangible progress for over a year, even though what's going on now may be the hardest part.

I think Flatlander is right. I believe they had some oilfield cleanup/abatement work that is why they are just now starting to move dirt. Originally they had a late 2007 early 2008 opening. I have yet to see that though.

Everything about this project is fuzzy and vague, including the site plans and renderings.

I still don't understand what it will be when finished, if that day ever comes.

I'm not so sure that it is relevant, but it MIGHT be good to recall the time concepts in terms of "Indian Time" vs. "Real Time". The 2 concepts of measurement are not the same.

But, as far as the project's promise, I know of nothing that suggests that this venture is speculative, even though the "time of completion" may have considerable variance.

And so Malibu continues his healthy skepticism of this project. :)

I'm not really concerned with whether it will happen or not, but I think you make a good point about it being unclear at to what it will actually be. And that is very pertinent to its success. You can have the nicest building and exhibit in the world and if no one really knows what it is or if it has no focus, how will they know if they want to spend their time and money visiting it? It seems the marketing of this attraction may be even harder that the building of it.

I'm sure an Indian Cultural Center will be built in some form at some point...

I just can't get excited about a project that can't even come close to articulating and/or communicating it's purpose.

Did no one see the 4 page insert in the Oklahoman that coincided with the Groundblessing ceremony? It showed a detailed rendering of the entire campus with explanations of each facility or area and its purpose.

I think I saw what you mention, which is similar to this on their website:

I shouldn't be so hard on the place... Perhaps it's just meant to be a meeting area more than a museum, although it will have exhibits too.

I'd get more excited if they had better renderings to help conceptualize.
