myspace.com--

Has anybody seen or been there, kinda neat. Has anybody signed up or have a profile? Or met anybody or made friends from there? I am wondering as I was bored last night and started up a profile just to be able to surf more of there features. I want to know if its worth keeping around, and learning html code and attempting to dress up mt profile some.

I have a myspace. I have found some college friends and some old high school aquaintences on there. It's been nice to catch up with some of them.

As for layouts...I skipped the whole html thing and found some nifty premade layouts. I just surfed through some other people's profiles and found what they had used. I also have a slide show of pics because myspace is very picky about graphic sizes and my camera tends to make very large graphic files.

It's worth checking out, though there are some STRANGE people on there. I stick to people I actually know in real life!

I have a My Space page. I use it to keep in touch with my son, who is in the Navy as well as my best friends son who is in Europe for the summer. I have also located an old school mate and a friend I worked with several years ago. I also used the "already" fixed pages found on the web and slide show. It is kinda fun to sign on and see who is around.

It is fun give it a try. Here is my page. www.myspace.com/mistiokc

I have one as well! http://www.myspace.com/dreamyeyedgoddess

I love myspace. I only approve people that I actually know... either work acquaitances, old school friends, family, etc. There are creeps out there of course so just beware who you approve to be your friends.

I use it almost on a daily basis!

I feel priviledged that you approved me, okcgoddess. I am still new at this, so it is taking me time to get it all set up the way I want it.

Felt like I might need to jump on the bandwagon and check it out. But it reminds me too much of setting up a single's profile on match.com. :D

Did anyone see the story on 20/20 last night? Apparently many youth are using this as a way to get sex, drugs, and rock and roll!

Just be careful what you put on your blog. Had a friend of mine that was going a little overboard on what she was putting on her blog. There are sexual predators out there, so just be careful.

So true. It is so dangerous to share any type of personal information on a blog. That's why I don't disclose my last name on my blog www.xanga.com/keith42 (http://www.xanga.com/keith42)., I did create a myspace blog, but I liked xanga better, so I haven't been back to myspace in a couple of weeks.

My daughter and son both have myspace blogs and I watch them very carefully.

I'm a myspacer, but it is kind of scary... I got sucked into the dateline special last night on catching all those men showing up to "meet" an underage girl... ugh! I've almost put my last name on there accidentally a couple of times, but edited it out before I posted it... It's easy to slip up and let out more info than should be allowed! It's fun to blog, though!

I'd watch what pics you post on there. My friend was posting pics of her and her friends in bathing suits at the pool. How stupid, and an easy target for sexual predators. okcgoddess posted a similar picture here recently......we finally removed it with her permission and request, and I'm glad we did. That's not saying she is dumb, but sometimes people just don't think.

Even on this site, you need to watch what you say. It's not like I'd give my address or home phone or anything like that. But, I'm a guy! If I were a girl, I'd probably restrict even more what I put.

Hey, I got a chance to view your blog on myspace, and I was impressed. It looks like you have put lots of work in to your site. As Patrick said, be careful not to release to much info about yourself.

I'm like you, though. Sometimes while I am blogging on my xanga account, I will sometimes slip and use someone's last name, however, fortunately, I always read through my post before I hit submit. I also look for typos and punctuation, because I am real picky about my spelling and grammar.

BTW, why am I still up? Is Patrick rubbing off on me?:ohno:

Ok.....:bedtime:

Yeah, just make sure not to use last names, and to be careful what pictures you post. IMO, pictures of yourself in a bikini should be off limits. But, thats just me. There's a lot of idiots out there just waiting to prey on anyone, and the more fuel you give them, the worse it can become.

Those huge 50 question surveys everyone puts up there, are also something to be cautious of. You can quickly gather enough info to make reasonable guesses about people's habits, and what they do and that's just for starters. I am constantly warning my youth.

Okay Patrick! So are you calling me stupid for posting the pick on the photo gallery of me in my bikini! JUST KIDDING!! But serioiusly, I am not stupid .... I wanted to post some pics from my Cozumel trip. And, almost all the pics. I had from the trip I was in my bathing suit!

Back to the topic... On myspace you can really post or write what you want if you set your profile to private. This will ensure that only your friends have access to your page. People must be listed as your friend in order to view any of the details or pics. on your page. If you have your profile to private and only accept "friends" who you personally know, then your "site" will be much more secure.

I really discourage online socializing on many levels for many reasons for young teens and children. And myspace.com has become a haven for online predators. I see myspace.com has the 21st Century chat room with profiles available, and you are asking for trouble as a young teen setting up one of these accounts. Policing the activities of a predator can and will become a full time job.

My grade for myspace? D

Mywaste dot com ain't all bad. It's a good way for ex-Okies like myself to keep family and old friends up-to-date on what I'm up to. Rather than sending out annoying group e-mails, people can log on if they choose.

+ it's free. Cool!
