I drove through BrickTown today and was able to take these pics.

They were working furiously on the Bricktown Police Station, and they are making good progress on the new Marriott Residence Inn.

That's as tall as Residence Inn gets, isn't it? Too bad.

Actually, in my opinion, in Bricktown proper, that's as tall as should be allowed.

Thanks for the pix, Keith!

Where's the new OCPD Bricktown substation located? Also, is the Marriott located in front of Toby Keith's and next to Sonic?

The Residence Inn project is actually not in Bricktown, "proper", but is in "Lower" Bricktown. However, the planned Hampton Inn immediately east and adjacent to the parking facility north of Bricktown Ballpark IS in Bricktown proper and is expected to be 9 stories, per this thread: http://www.okctalk.com/bricktown-wired/index2.html

Personally, I don't have any problem with that and think the Hampton Inn will be a very nice addition, stucco or no stucco. I like both projects.

I'm glad the Hampton will block some of the highway view of the horrendous parking garage.

The Bricktown police station is located just west of E. Main St & Central Ave.

The Marriott is east of Toby Keith's and east of Sonic. It is just west of the Bass Pro Shop.

Doug I don't think he was stating the RI was in Bricktown proper. I think he was just stating they shouldn't build much taller than that in actual Bricktown. Meaning they should have a height limitation to be uniform with the original warehouses.

AFCM the bricktown police substation is on main just east of the walnut st. bridge.

There is a height restriction in Bricktown. I forget how many stories/feet it is, but the proposed Factory condo building on top of Sherman Iron Works was near the max. It might be 8 or 9 stories, if I remember right.

I think it's something like 90 ft. The Factory was over the height restriction, I think, and I'm pretty sure the Hampton proposal is a little bit over too.

I'm satisfied with the height of the Residence Inn, but I wish they had designed it without the thatched roof.

Looks like I posted my updated (5.21.06) pics of the Marriott Residence Inn in the wrong thread (the one which bears that name ... http://www.okctalk.com/bricktown-wired/6007-new-marriott-residence-inn.html ...) since the initial pics in THIS thread were taken later than those you initially posted, Keith, there ... anyway, here are a couple of progress pics on the police substation taken 5.21.06 (today) ...

I agree. I've been watching this thing go up and I can't figure out why they're putting that rood on it. They're paying extra to make it look crappier.

I think it took some design cues from the Courtyard and Bass Pro.

Not exactly gems of architecture...
