OU fullback faces intoxication charge

NORMAN - Oklahoma fullback Dane Zaslaw was arrested by Norman police for public intoxication Friday morning and could face a fine of up to $500 if found guilty.

Zaslaw, a junior from Edmond Memorial High School, was booked at 2 a.m. Friday morning and was released at 11 a.m. Friday morning.

Public intoxication is a misdemeanor municipal charge. Such a charge is more severethan a citation-issue charge, but the maximum penalty if Zaslaw pleads guilty or no contest is a monetary fine. But it remains a criminal charge.

It is officially labeled a non-traffic criminal charge misdemeanor.

The 6-1, 242-pounder, the No. 1 ranked linebacker in Oklahoma in 2002, has not had a court date set. When he appears in court, Zaslaw can plea not guilty, guilty or no contest. If he is found guilty he will pay a fine ranging from $50 to $500 as well as court costs.
