I saw a story several weeks ago about OfficeMax and their decision to shut down some stores across the country. I had a feeling that the OfficeMax on Northwest Expressway would be one to go. It's so close to Office Depot and Staples. Sure enough, I drove by today and there is a big banner across the front, "STORE CLOSING."

Is it a sale? What is the percent off?

No sale yet, but probably will be eventually.

Don't be shocked if there aren't any sales - it sometimes is better for them to just move the stock to other stores in the area.

They had guys waving signs at the Northwest Expressway/Pennsylvania intersection yesterday trying to call attention to the closing; this suggests they'd like to move some of that merch.

Went in Sunday afternoon. They up to 30% off. However, most items were 15% off.

Please be very careful about any going-out-of-business sales at OfficeMax.

Although I cannot say how OfficeMax will be handled, I can say that many times a vendor sells out the *entire* inventory of a store - right down to the bulbs and fixtures to a closeout specialist. The specialist then runs the "going out of business" sale, which becomes a fiction, because they go through the store and reprice everything before taking down new "reductions" to make the sale seem more attractive than it really is.
