Here are some pics I took on 1/2/06 ... they run clockwise, starting around 9:00 o'clock, running to about 3:00 o'clock ... some pretty nice views from this area ...

Thanks, Doug!

I didn't realize the new addition would almost complete obstruct the view of the new downtown library.

That's really too bad.

That's really too bad.

Yeah, but the back of it isn't really it's strong point anyway.

That's true... The front faces the other direction.

I was confused there for a moment.

BTW, we should now have plenty of parking spaces in the CBD. There was enough when I worked there in the 80's an we've added two huge new garages while the office occupancy has dropped.

No doubt. There's an amazing amount of parking downtown. It's everywhere.

Funny thing is that I used to sometimes park in the galleria garage for events. Now that it's twice as big, there's no way I'm doing that. It will take forever to get out of there after a game or concert. At least it has exits on more than one side (three sides, I think), but, still, that's a lot of cars to compete with after an event. it should free up more street parking though, which is often available.

Yeah, the back of the library was just a solid gray wall. Nothing spectacular to look at.

I think it's pretty amazing how the new downtown library has really caught on. Many said before it was built that the days of libraries has past. I guess not.

Good pics Doug. Just to let you all know, they have started on the second section of this phase, working from south to north towards the library. It is moving very quickly at this point. And in response to the comment about it covering up the back of the library, think of how I feel: For those of us IN the library, its blocking our view of the myriad gardens (and everything else for that matter). About the only thing we will be able to see is our cars (if we park there!).
