The Friends of the Moore Public Library will hold their annual book sale January 26th through the 29th at the library, 225 South Howard. Special sales events will precede and follow the regular book sale, offering additional savings for early birds and bulk-buyers.

On Thursday, January 26th, a special Early Bird Preview Sale will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm for Friends of the Moore Public Library members only. Memberships to the organization will be available at that time, giving new members immediate Early Bird status. Membership fees are $5 for individuals, $10 for families, and $25 for businesses and $1 for students.

The sale for the public will run from 9 AM to 4:30 PM on Friday, January 27 through Saturday, January 28. The public is invited to the two-day sale that will feature used books at bargain rates ranging from twenty-five cents to three dollars. Special collections, sets, and collectible items will be offered in a silent auction that ends at 2 PM on Saturday.

On Sunday, January 29, from 1 to 4 PM, the remaining books and materials will be sold during a special Bag Sale. Customers may purchase as many books as they can fit into a provided brown paper bag for a set rate of $3 per bag.

Proceeds from the book sale are used to underwrite special purchases and programs at the library. For more information about the Friends Book Sale or any of the programs and services offered at the library, stop by or call (405) 793-5100.

why do you have to buy a membership to the public library?

It's a membership to the "Friends of the Library" group not the library itself. All proceeds from memberships and the booksales go to help the Moore Library with funding for programs and other needed items throughout the year. This past year the library had some major renovations and the friends group was able to help with them getting some desired items above and beyond what the library system and or city was paying for.
I believe most librarys have a friends group if Moore isn't a local library for you, you could check out the group at the library you frequent. It's a great support to your library and community.
