PBS is re-airing a FRONTLINE episode about Wal-Mart this week. It’s something that every Wal-Mart consumer should watch. Here’s PBS’s synopsis of the program:

While some economists credit Wal-Mart’s single-minded focus on low costs with helping contain U.S. inflation, others charge that the company is the main force driving the massive overseas shift to China in the production of American consumer goods, resulting in hundreds of thousands of lost jobs and a lower standard of living here at home. FRONTLINE investigates the costs and benefits of Wal-Mart’s “everyday low prices.” (more » (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/walmart/))
The program will air on OETA, Channel 13 (Channel 14 on Oklahoma City Cox Cable) at the following times:

Tuesday, January 03, 8:00 PM
Wednesday, January 04, 1:00 AM
Wednesday, January 04, 3:00 AM
Friday, January 06, 8:00 PM

It'll be interesting. Having not watched it, I'm already troubled by its apparent conclusion that Wal-Mart is bad. I don't necessarily disagree, however, the issue (Wal-Mart and its relationship to the economy) is such a complex and large animal to analyze that.. well, let's just say if PBS can tackle such a beast, they'll surprise me.
