Folks, the last two weeks have been exceptionally rough on Leon....divorce process took a major turn south, betrayed by my best friend (happened to be female), dog actually died, and about $2,000 in unexpected expenses. Enough of that though, at least I'm still kickin'.

If any of you are familiar with the Usenet (a lesser-known portion of the internet but just as important as the web, email, and FTP) I found the following there in a newsgroup devoted to overcoming shyness....."Ways to get to a woman's heart". Of course questions came to Leon's mind. They're posted after:

I thought this was nice. I don't think it's too much for a woman to want
from a man.
"Ways To Get To A Girls Heart--
1. Hugs her from behind.
2. Grab her hand when you guys walk next to each other.
3. When standing, wrap your arms around her.
4. Cuddle with her.
5. Dont force her to do ANYTHING!
6. Write little notes.
7. Compliment her.
8. When you hug her, hold her in your arms as long as possible.
9. Say I love you.....and MEAN IT!
10. Brush the hair out of her eyes
11. Comfort her when she cries.
12. Love her with all your heart"

That's the kind of stuff I actually want to do. But obviously these are
things you would do when you're already in a relationship. It's just the
getting into a relationship that is so difficult for some reason. Why do
women make it extra difficult for men like me? It is just in case I turn
out to be a jerk? Just in case?

My observations:
Why have I never seen a list of ways to get to a man's heart?
Do men not appreciate a compliment?
Do men not desire a hug also?.....Must men initiate?
Why is "Make love to her." not on this list?
Animally it seems that men express their attraction/devotion via an attempt to make love, but women perceive love as a willingness to get close to sex without actually doing it.
Does the world actually believe that a man's zipper is the path to his heart? (I guess men actually 'are not' the shallow ones.)(Admittedly the zipper is required but it certainly isn't the whole pisture.)

Leon...sorry to hear you have had some rough times of late..now more than ever you probably need the comfort from a female and I hope you find it.

Something I have said many times..women just dont need men and know they control the whole "game" and use it to their advantage to get what they want from us..and I was dumb enough to fall for that for too long..never again.

Speaking as a girl this is a great list. But I would think it would be, if not in whole, a list that could apply to guys too. An underlining message says to me respect, repsect, respect. Sometimes it's the little things that are a reflection on the bigger things. Here's a hint that you guys probably know but may have tucked away....those little things are to us girls a true expression of how you feel, almost like a non-sexual foreplay. I'm betting if we'd get that more often you'd stand a good chance of getting the other more readily.

I thought so, too. Maybe since they all have microwaves, they can fend for themselves? (Except for Jay, who uses his to dry his socks and underwear.)

Hey...I resemble that remark. But seriously, the way to a mans heart is not through his stomach, it's with the same thing you ladies want, hugs, kisses and awsome backrubs. If I could just find a woman who would be willing to do those things. So Daisy, Osupa, make me an offer I cannot refuse, or at least a great pot roast :boff:

Jealous? No.
Just wise-cracking a couple of people I think are 'pretty good folk'.
They're both more than OK by me.
