They broke ground for the new Bass Pro in Broken Arrow today. Since this isn't really in a heavy tourist area, I'm going to be curious how the store will do. I'm sure it will do fine, but it will draw a different crowd than the one in OKC.

Here are the details:

"Bass Pro breaks ground on second Oklahoma store

BROKEN ARROW (AP) - An official groundbreaking was held Wednesday for a 130,000-square-foot Bass Pro Shops' store that will employ 300 people.
NEWS 9 report

"This is a win-win situation for the Broken Arrow-Tulsa area," said Lt. Gov. Mary Fallin, who participated in the ceremony. "This is a great investment in Oklahoma.

"It will draw people from all over the region."

She said plans for the store have led to interest in national hotel chains and restaurants in locating in the area.

The outdoor sporting goods store will anchor a 65-acre development along Oklahoma 51. It will be adjacent to a stocked lake.

Bass Pro opened a 110,000-square-foot store in Oklahoma City about 10 months ago. City officials say it is meeting or exceeding sales goals set under an agreement that paved the way for the city to fund construction of the $19 million building.

As part of its deal with Oklahoma City, Bass Pro agreed not to build another store within 75 miles of the store in Bricktown.

The Broken Arrow store is about 110 miles from Bricktown.

Officials in Broken Arrow put together an incentives package totaling $24 million to lure a store from the Springfield, Mo.-based company.

The company has 23 stores, and it intends to open three more in November and about 14 next year. "

It'll be a success, and the BA location is perfect for a store like Bass Pro. It'll be interesting to see which store does better...
