Not sure if this belongs in development forum or here but the Federal Government in Mexico announced the intent to open a consulate in OKC no word on location yet but as mentioned Capitol Hill would be great.

I agree, they should locate it in the Capitol Hill downtown. They should also locate Guatemala and the other consulates (that are also latin/central american) to Capitol Hill as well.

Would be very great to see offices start to really sprout up in CH that service/employ the local residents. We really also need a few urban apartment complexes/midrises to give LIFE to Capitol Hill.

A Vietnam consultant would do well in Little Saigon(I’m not calling it the Asian district :p)

Opens spring 2023. Still doesn’t say where exactly it will go but it will be in OKC:

According to the article, will be west OKC facing OKC Blvd with lots of parking, "The Consulate is going to be west of downtown Oklahoma City in an independent building that also offers enough parking space for our visitors. It's going to be right across Oklahoma City Boulevard. . ." Looks like possibly 400 S. Lee or or 512 SW 3rd? The only other buildings I see in that area are Ozarka and Liveley Brewery 400 S Lee is owned by Strawberry Fields and sw 3rd is owned by Marc and Debbie Gardiner. It does not appear to have much parking but there are empty lots on all sides. There is also a door company in part of the property that appears to be owned by another entity.

This is the location. They have filed building permits for it.

i wasn't able to get that link to pull up the specific location within google maps. however, i plugged the latitude and longitude into a map search and it returned an old school at the northeast corner of ne 13th & missouri. maybe the coordinates are off, but i wouldn't call that too close to the boulevard and definitely not west of downtown.

Thanks. That works. Great building. Not sure of parking so guessing they will use the parking lot in the next block which is usually empty or the one across the street that generally has quite a few cars in it during the day. Not sure who controls either. Either way....plenty of parking close by for them.

Pete.....can we get the building plans for the remodel?

Although I would have preferred the Mexican Consulate General of Oklahoma City to have been located in Capital Hill at the new Plaza on Harvey/25th, this location on W Sheridan is a nice secondar spot with what looks like a great Embassy like building with a great view of the city straight down Sheridan/Grand Avenue. The consulate could be a great anchor for this part of the city, just imagine the density that could be had across the street that if realized could make this a secondary latin downtown area for the city.

Wish it were at Capital HIll for a synergy standpoint and to further increase the importance of Capital Hill, but this could bring much needed attention to W downtown as a gateway to the central city. We need the bus system to connect to this and the Guatemalan Consulate General so folks can get there without having to drive.

Hopefully OKC gets more consular offices; Vietnam comes to mind, maybe Phillippines and Taiwan, also other central and Latin American countries with sizable OKC numbers.

Thanks. That area has been getting some cleaning up but this will go along ways towards helping that stretch.
