Count me as someone who—not without compassion for those who lost their jobs—isn’t overly concerned or saddened by recent prison closures. Until our justice system is reformed and this country does away with private prisons, it’s just hard for me to care about shut down correctional facilities.

Also, I considered starting a thread on this a week ago after seeing inmates will be receiving computer tablets:

Hopefully this can get them better access to resources to help them improve their life and prepare for reintroduction to society.

Sad to see this as far as jobs in a rural area. I just wish they could start building a new modern center near this old one then move the inmates and staff. The dept of Corrections has an interesting program of industries that produce amazing items besides licence plates. Purchasing is open to governmental entities, non profits and governmental employees as well as retires of governmental entities. Besides producing a product, the inmates learn useful job skills, stay busy as well as earn a bit of pocket money. Excellent program.
