Who knows anything about this LA based group "Accelerator for America" out of LA that just seems to have recently started up? Their website is little more than Gold-Plated bureaucratic buzzwords and all I see on Guide star is that they recently started up and are based in LA... now that we've addressed the food desert in the East Side I think it is time we address the City-wide news desert, as we should all know who these people are and if they are any good.

Mission
Accelerator for America provides strategic support for local initiatives that strengthen peoples economic security, connect them with job opportunities and foster infrastructure development. Our supported initiatives can be scaled nationwide to benefit disavantaged communities.

hmmmmm sounds too good to be true!

Well, I suppose we need someone to administrate all of the unfunded liabilities created by MAPS 4. This crowd sounds perfect for that.

Their twitter account is barely 2 yrs old and looks like, from Guidestar, that they've only been officially operating for a little over a year. What kind of connections do these Los Angeles based think tank (paid to think by the makers of tanks) heroes have? I guess obviously it's a friend of the LA mayor who apparently Holt owes a favor....kind of gross.

friend comments:
believe you me Edward Bernays would be right proud of his acolytes - it is unadulterated corporate socialism / fascism. Public Private ptsp where the privates get all the tax revenues/credits and the public receives the debt the higher taxes the higher cost of living and a great big green weenie right up the stake holder. This is out of state money / control with the blessing of the Chamber of Commerce and tall tower Republican approval. Bad for Oklahoma City bad for Oklahoma and its citizens.

Reading the website, my first reaction is:

"Synergy."

That said, it seems like this group wants to be paid for doing something we're already pretty good at--providing tax incentives to encourage gentrification. I suppose if it's federal dollars and we have the rising tide and whatnot, that seems fine.

It does seem weird that his Handlers would allow him to pal around with this sort of Think Tank. Just a bad look all the way around -- for David, for the city, and for its citizens.

Who are his "handlers?"

Among the myriad of aspects that a city needs to address as MAPS 4 signals a change in direction when our first MAPS plans had to be taken underground to avoid media & community scrunity.

Human needs element is long overdue. Good mental health is something we've all taken for granted until the 1990s events since our Oklahoma City Bombing & the Branch Davidians compound siege in Waco shed more light on reality.

Our mayors beginning with Ron Norick have attempted to find the right balance & mix (needs & wants) for a futuristic vision of what our city can become.

Think there's a subset of people on here that apparently just really dislike the mayor.

It looks like a bunch of "influencers" who act as sort of a Chamber of Commerce, try to find new business and opportunities for a member city, eat a lot of banquet food and listen to each other speak.

I'd be asking how much this costs taxpayers.

Steve, could do some unbiased research on this project. It seems as though you have come out against it since Mayor David Holt is showing them the town. It's not like he has given them anything.

I did look at their basic profile on Guidestar, looked through their instagram that had "teaming up with Mastercard" posts on it, and browsed a few other things...will look more tomorrow. These outside interest, non profits funded by warchests of big finance money are rarely good... This has nothing to do with my dislike at Holt. I posted something quite pleasant on his twitter yesterday about him at the rapids....I think that project is somewhat ok in that it gives OKC something uNIQUE, which is good...Holt is never about anything like that...if the dude every had an original idea his head would explode.

Lol, no. Mayor Holt has his own account on the forum and I am not him. I'm tall, but not that tall.

Good to see Bold Vibrant Mayor Holt at the UCLA game! Feel sorry for the Norman mayor! o0f! Why was Garcetti there at the coin toss and not Sacramento Mayor Steinberg? Maybe I am overthinking this matter....

it is very possible that Accelerator has already taken the City’s clothes off and forced it to perform acts against its citizens’ interest in exchange for thousands and thousands of dollars in jewels and cash.

definitely need a heavy hitter like Lackmeyer to investigate. Imagine he is too busy covering the Kings of Leon concert.

Here is an explanation of the very difficult to understand joke. Holt is the mayor of Oklahoma City, OU is in Norman. Therefore, the Sacramento mayor would make more sense than the LA mayor. I will be here all week.

I heard Holt was palling around at the Thunder Game with Zuckerberg. Probably trying to work some Cambridge Analytica bull**** to get MAPS 4 across the finish line.
