Construction has started on a new building which will be part of a 2-building complex for the Oklahoma Insurance Department.

The state bought the existing 37,700 square foot 2-story building from Hobby Lobby a few years ago. Hobby Lobby had bought from Travco Construction but never did anything with it.

Pure waste of taxpayer dollars. There is plenty of space at the Capitol Complex in the "Honeycomb" Buildings (Hodge, Sequoya, etc.) and they don't support a large staff. OMES DCAM will have a fun time keeping that monstrosity running. Why is it that we can't put State agencies all in one area, so your business does not require travel over the entire city in some instances? SMH

This is an excellent question.

While I don't disagree with you, I will say that there are always exceptions made when the office head is an elected official.

The Connors building has deteriorated so much it has been mostly abandoned by the OTC as they moved downtown. Some of the others are not much better.
They have been a nightmare for OMES DCAM.
