The Queen of Soul has passed this morning. I understand that this stuff is inevitable, and I try to comment on every single passing, but some people (Aretha in particularly) really make their mark on society. They don't just blend in. They are a gift. Aretha stands out not only in the incredible Detroit music scene, but in the American music community. Class, style, and a voice that was second to none.

Condolences to her family. Society will be treasuring your wife/daughter/sister for many MANY more years.

And to lighten up the mood a bit, honestly once I get past the recognition of her amazing voice, this is the second thing I think of when I think of Ms. Franklin...

Rest in peace, Queen.

As I said in the other thread about this, two songs of her's that are my absolute favorite are Say a Little Prayer and Until You Come Back to Me.
