Sur La Table, Coldwater Creek and expanded Lululemon coming to Classen Curve (http://www.okctalk.com/content.php?r=517-Sur-La-Table-Coldwater-Creek-and-expanded-Lululemon-coming-to-Classen-Curve)

The list of new-to-market national retailers keeps growing at Classen Curve.

Plans are underway to bring Sur La Table, Coldwater Creek and an expanded Lululemon store to a newly constructed building in the middle of the complex.

In what would be the state's first Sur La Table, plans have been filed for a 5,000 square foot store. The Seattle company is privately held and features all types of generally premium products for the kitchen, such as cookware, dinnerware, tabletop and linens, cutlery, cooks tools and some other household and outdoor items.

Sur La Table curently has over 100 stores, most featuring hands-on cooking classes.

Coldwater Creek is being resurrected after the owners of Talbots and Nine West bought the women's apparel and accessories brand out of bankruptcy.

The company previously operated stores in Penn Square Mall and Edmond and throughout the United States before completely ceasing operations in 2014. The Oklahoma City location will be one of the very first in the new chain, the only other brick-and-mortar store being in Burlington, Massachusetts.

Additionally, Lululemon will almost double the space of their current Classen Curve location when it joins Sur La Table and Coldwater Creek in the new building.

Since Washington Prime purchased the Curve, Nichols Plaza and the Triangle at Classen Curve from Chesapeake Energy in 2014, they have added a host of national and regional retailers such as West Elm, Trader Joe's, Kendra Scott, Warby Parker, Rustic Cuff, Rye 51, Cos Bar, and Bonobos.

Just last fall, Classen Curve added a new building and opened Athleta, Ever Eve, Soft Surroundings and others.

As OKCTalk reported earlier this week (http://www.okctalk.com/content.php?r=516-Trendy-AC-Hotel-planned-for-Classen-Curve-area), plans are also underway to build a boutique hotel on the vacant land just north of Whole Foods and next week, Hopdoddy Burger Bar will open in a building Washington Prime built along NW 63rd, after opening a new Starbuck's next door just last week.

The company is also planning a large mixed-use development on the empty land that sits between Classen Curve and Nichols Hills Plaza but have been busy with these in-fill projects and finding quality tenants for inherited vacancies and turnover.

Lululemon and Coldwater Creek should be open later this summer while the likely opening date for Sur La Table is late fall.

Loved Sur la Table when I lived in California. I may not be able to afford much, but I really am looking forward to having this store around.

I loved it, too.

They have loads of things that aren't expensive and are good gifts.

This is a great get for OKC.

Is it time to end this silly "Tulsa gets everything first" myth??

WOW I never thought I'd see a Sur La Table in the state! OKC just keeps getting cooler :D

Literally the only thing Tulsa has that I truly want in OKC is an upscale department store. If OKC could get a Nordstrom, I wouldn't have to take my tax dollars to any other city.

Have you been in that Saks? Very small.

And it was weird circumstances around it. It's not like Saks Fifth Avenue went out and actively chose Tulsa over other markets. There was some sort of ownership connection and it has never been close to a full-sized Saks.

True. But they have brands I can't really get here reasonably easily. But you are right. It is small.

I bet that's not completely true.

Rye 51 has a lot of high-end men's stuff as does Mr. Ooley's, Gil's, Spencer Stone, Steven Giles, etc.

For example, I used to buy Armani at Saks in California but Mr. Ooley's carries a lot of the same things.

And for women, Balliets probably has a bigger and better selection.

Despite that I've been to Utica Square many, many times I've only been in that store twice. They just don't have any kind of decent selection. And the only time I've look for true "designer" clothes was around the time of my wedding and we went to Dallas. The Tulsa Saks does not even have a kids or baby section. I like that Nordstrom has a great selection of Dillard's priced items, a great selection of upper priced (but not designer) items, and a small/medium selection of designer. Plus, Nordstrom has really great house brands that are great quality. I exclusively wear their non-iron dress shirts, and they literally look like new for several years. Some of the Nordstrom stores around have really great kids and baby sections with price points not all that different than Dillard's. Nordstrom really has it all. I really wish we had one, but it's not like Tulsa does.

I am excited about Sur la Table! I've been in a few and really liked it. I'm not much of a cook, but my wife really enjoys it, so I think we will enjoy having one here. My mom is probably really going to like Coldwater Creek-- I think that was her favorite store before it went out.

You're right. The Penn Square Mall Dillards is very nice, as well. I need to start spending more money locally. I do like Gil's.

Back on topic, Classen Curve is a game changer, and I have no reason to expect less going forward, including their expansion/new mixed-use development nearby.

True. I seem to remember they had a lot of smaller stuff around the cash register that was really inexpensive that I usually ended up buying. Great store, nonetheless.

My last venture into Culinary Kitchen, it felt incredibly kitschy. Sur la Table has more foodstuffs too - I'd compare it more to a Williams Sonoma. My mom and sister love Sur much more than WS.

^

I also regard Sur La Table as a much better store than Williams Sonoma.

They have way, way more stock. Thousands of little specialty items and gadgets in addition to lots of cookware and tableware.

I had easy access to both stores and never went into a WS and was in SLT all the time.

Good to know, thanks, will be a shorter drive up Western to Sur La Table than to Culinary Kitchen. :)

When we lived in Austin I used to go to Sur La Table in The Domain when my office was across the street from it. We have been to the one in Cheery Creek North a few times, haven't been to the one in Southglenn yet.

As Pete stated, Sur La Table is opening soon. The Oklahoman is saying that the opening date will be the first week of November.

It's exciting but I'm sad that mural is going away. Or was it done on temporary walls that can be moved and set up elsewhere?

Some co-workers and I went to lunch at Cafe 501 yesterday and it appeared that the murals were on temporary walls that have been damaged or dismantled as they build the space out. It looks like the wall was made out of OSB or another type of plywood or chip board. One side was basically cut up and demo'd and awaiting to be chunked in the trash bin.

I like Sur la Table. I enjoy the cooking demonstrations and the classes they offer! I usually go to the Plano location. This is another good catch for OKC! OKC is starting to be on the radar for more upscale stores like this and Container Store!

I stopped in there today. I had a few things on my list of wants. They do not carry any of them. I did find one item I have not seen locally before that will be on my want list. Still think WS has more of what I want.

They carry a line of cocoa powder that my wife really likes but with the Savory Spice shop nearby she usually buys some of theirs with her company discount. We have also bought it at the OKC location if we are going down Western. I went there often when my office was in The Domain in Austin. It was across the street from us.
