Does anyone else hate the new newsok.com layout? You scroll and scroll and scroll, all the while getting hit with the same crap on the right side, but just big blocks of wasted image space in the middle. It takes a LOT longer to even get to the dang reading material now. Really hate it...definitely not an improvement.

I've already had some users get the scareware popups from it this morning too.

Yes, it's god awful. You have to scroll past several huge pictures just to get to news. Whoever designed it did not have the reader in mind.

Yeah, dislike. Plus, I can get to the business section, but is there no longer a downtown sub-section?

My question also^^^

If it's not broken, don't fix it! The old layout was perfectly fine the way it was and very user friendly. This is just stupid! And, yeah, what happened to the downtown section? That's where I went the most.

Couldn’t they just display a feed from here to show on their website to cut out the middle man?

They are just doing what every other website does. Trying to keep you on their site as long as possible to make more money on advertisements.

However, if they paid for better content, rather than a "better" platform, they would likely accomplish the same goal.

The change to mobile site last year forced me to start using the Desktop Mode in the Dolphin Browser to avoid all the scrolling and risk of launching some link as you scrolled down the page. Now it doesn't even work in Desktop Mode in Dolphin.

And what's with ads for Kroger? There are no Kroger stores in Oklahoma ...

I would say maybe the Oklahoman knows something we don't, but how likely is THAT?

Possibly simply based on the location of the user? Many websites don’t sell specific ads, rather they just sell the space and the ad server places whatever they think is appropriate based on the tracking cookies following the user.

Yeah, a big thumbs down from me. It seems like everyone is trying to make a desktop site look more like a mobile site.

Yeah and you will eventually have to pay a monthly fee to be able to organize your feed as well as to read and post comments. I hate the new layout will probably not use it anymore,

Since I'm from the old school, I read the print image and avoid anything new. Well, I have to see the new stuff when I first go to their site but that's it. I should mention that I would enjoy the paper copy but I don't want to kill trees and I quit the hard copy about twenty years ago. Now I flip through the print image just like I have done since I was a child only it's on a 27 inch screen and with my macular degeneration I need all the help I can get.

Saw the new feed once and I've not been back since. This may finally, formally, and permanently end what little relationship I had remaining with the Oklahoman. Total waste.

So other than bots generating traffic to justify ad rates, is anyone else clicking on NewsOK?

The only reason I ever went there is for Lackmeyer's chat on Friday mornings, still will do that since it's exclusive to them and very useful (well, when he's not reporting things that OKCTalk has already reported :)).

I hate the new layout/UI. It looks even more small town to me.
