This is nothing short of huge news.

The Tulsa Club Building, one of Tulsa’s greatest art deco buildings that was left to rot by an out of state owner is to be restored. The Tulsa Club is a zigzag art deco building designed by Bruce Goff (Boston Avenue Methodist) and is on the National Historic Register of Buildings. It long as been on the list of Oklahoma’s most endangered buildings.

The Ross Group, who bought the building last fall, will spend $24 million to store the building as a boutique hotel with retail space on the first floor and restaurant space on the 11th.

The Local Development Act Review Committee unanimously recommended the requested tax relief for the Ross Group project. The committee is made up of all the local groups that would be impacted by the tax relief. The Ross Group is asking for six year tax abatement for $1.7 million.

The request now goes to the City Council which has already expressed support.
