On my way to the Courthouse this morning, I noticed a vast number of young men walking around wearing Beta paraphernalia. I went to Google and learned that one of the most prestigious fraternities in the country is having their convention here in OKC.

I had some great times in my undergrad days going to both St. Louis and Toronto for our conventions. I never imagined considering the size and scope that any major national fraternity would have its convention in OKC.

I'm glad this is happening and look forward to the day when my college fraternity pays a visit to the Sooner State.

It may have something to do with the OU chapter recently finishing up a $10M renovation and expansion of the historic chapter house in Norman. I believe it was the largest fraternity capital project ever completed.

Not the same scale, but there was a national fraternity holding a scholarship fundraiser at Vast the other weekend.

According to this, you are correct. http://totalfratmove.com/ou-beta-theta-pis-record-setting-house-must-be-seen-to-be-believed/

The difference is basically the same as between a little league game vs. the World Series.

What happened here was Beta had representatives from all over the nation, probably thousands of members here in OKC for a week. Beta is a well respected, large national organization. I have never once heard of an organization of its size holding their convention in a city the size of ours. That they did it, and they pulled it off well, as an active alumnus, makes me very hopeful to see my group here someday.
